Gandhi Mod

Description
This mod is part of a series of leader mods I plan to create for some of the civs.

Yes, part of this new unique ability is shared by Sweden and Gustavus. But, I plan on eventually modifying his unique ability as well (most likely to something more militant) since his existing one is a little awkward for his current flavors and play styles. A human can play it well, and take advantage of great generals, but the AI suffers with it a bit. Anyway, enough with Gustavus… and back to Gandhi! : )

New Unique Ability: “Virtue of Truth”. – 20% unhappiness from population, and when declaring friendship, India and their friend gain a +10% boost to great person generation.

(Note: "population" refers to only citizens per city. Unhappiness from number of cities is unaffected. I reworded the text to match the text in game when hovering over the Happiness icon.)

AI Attritbutes and Flavors:
Declaration of Friendship Willingness: increased to 9 from 8.
Major Civ Approach “Guarded”: decreased to 6 from 7.
Major Civ Approach “Friendly”: increased to 8 from 7.
Expansion Flavor: increased to 5 from 3.
Great People Flavor: increased to 9 from 6.
Nuke Flavor: decreased to 3 from 12!
Use Nuke Flavor: decreased to 5 from 12!

With these modifications, Gandhi should be a (peaceful) force to reckon with in games, instead of just simply taking up a little space on the map. And in the player’s hands, I believe he will be a little more fun to play as too.

I felt this half of Sweden’s unique ability was very fitting for India, especially alongside some form of India’s old happiness ability. Less unhappiness for bigger populations and great people synergize well together. With this ability, happiness bonuses are more valueable, and without taking into account other abilities and modifiers, one point of happiness is worth 1.25 population (so luxuries can support 5 population instead of just 4).

With this new ability, I fittingly raised Gandhi’s DoF willingness and greatly raised his great people flavor. I made him slightly less likely to be guarded to other civs so he cooperates with them more and I slightly increased his inclination to being friendly even more.

Also, this civ isn’t so restricted from expanding anymore, so I slightly increased the expansion flavor so this civ isn’t so averted from doing so (early in the game, anyway, since the old ability could be abused later on, passed its design intent, after overcoming the per-city unhappiness threshold).

Lastly, I removed the ridiculous nuking flavors. It was a nice Easter egg of the Civ 1 Gandhi bug, but sorry, the joke is over with this mod. ; ) A nuke flavor of 3 is the lowest value shared by only a few leaders. A “use nuke” of 5 is the lowest common value amongst many of the leaders.

Also, for an additional modification to India, see my Mausoleum Mod, which can be combined with this one or used alone.

aww man, it looked good but watching Nuclear warlord Gandhi demolish Attila and Shaka with a shower of nukes is too much lolz to remove from my games :(

I agree w/ Shaleshn. Can we have other Indian leaders? Asoka, Harsha, Chandragupta, Kanishka, Samudragupta for ancient times, and maybe Narendra Modi for today? Then the Indian leaders can have a variety of attributes

In the modern era India and Pakistan are considered the two most dangerous nuclear powers, and the most likely to consider the use of nukes as a defensive or tactical deterant. The original Gandhi bug might not have been a bug ;)

That's what I'm thinking. I am using a half dozen mods and I have run into conflicts before. I will try re-subscribing and restarting the mod on my next game and see if that helps.

Sounds a bit like the old Gandhi. Are you sure this mod is functioning properly in your game? If you have other mods enabled alongside it, perhaps it's being overridden.
