Brothers to the End

Description
Ace Shadowrunners and blood brothers, Michael and Stark are quickly gaining a reputation as a team that gets the job done. What should have been a simple package retrieval, has the duo caught in a race against time with a ruthless megacorp, an ancient evil, and a red haired adept, with the very existence of humanity at stake.

Hoi, chummers!

Brothers to the End is a prequel to the Sega Genesis version of Shadowrun, as well as a sequel to the SNES Shadowrun, my two favorite video games growing up. It is my attempt to bridge the two games together, to make the Shadowrun II Drake promised and to lead it straight into Joshua's story, as well as to tell a unique Shadowrun story. The game is a love letter to those games and those fond memories I had as a GM on Friday nights with my friends.

This game is not just a love letter to Shadowrun, but also to 1980’s and 90's action movies, complete with one liners and plenty of references thrown in for fun.

I tried to make the game a legitimate Shadowrun experience, so expect to run into a lot of characters and situations straight out of existing (for 2nd edition) canon.

The game is not an RPG. Characters gain higher stats and learn new skills as they go. It's set over 10 Acts and has between 20-25 hours of gameplay depending on the paths you take and the choices you make. I designed it to be replayed multiple times in order to get the entire story.

There are also a ton of Easter Eggs hidden in it as well, some just for fun and others that will actually benefit the player. Search everywhere, you never know what you'll find or who you'll run into.

I started working on this in 2013 on Shadowrun Returns, and after 8 long years, it's finally complete. I hope you guys have as much fun playing it as I did making it.

I'd like to thank the Shadowrun Returns UGC-making community as well as people who have played it and left comments. It really helped in making it all come together. Please leave any comments or suggestions as well as constructive criticisms you see fit.

It was such a blast creating a game, and I greatly appreciate everyone that has taken the time to play it and/or comment on it.

Thanks chummers! See you in the shadows.

It's freaking good chummer. I'm now doing the big Ares run with two teams. Enjoying every single bit of it. All the movie references, the Shadowrun lore... thanks so much for this 10/10 UGC campaign.

I wanted to give more depth to the characters. Mako in particular I feel deserved his own story arc, being such a major character in the Sega version. I wanted to show how he ended up in the position he is in when you encounter him.

I feel like being able to see the world from multiple points of view helps to make the game more engaging and paints a bigger picture of the story overall.

I will chum. So far I really appreciate the parts with Mako Sochou, Vigore and now even with Thon. Thrilling to see some things from the villains' perspective. To be continued!!

I really wanted to make a true Shadowrun experience. Something that could be canon. I also wanted something fun. When I was making this, I tried to write it up in the style of a 1980's/1990's action movie. But my main goal overall was to make it a true sequel to the SNES game and a true prequel to the Genesis version. To make the Shadowrun 2 Drake promised Jake at the end of the SNES version, and to set off Joshua's shadowrunning career in the Sega version.

When you finish, tell me if I was able to capture that essence.

It's wiz so far. Riddled with references to Terminator, Army of Darkness etc. and full of pretty deep Shadowrun lore from the books, with characters from the Snes and Genesis games, this UGC feels like coming home. Thanks chum.

As a lifelong fan of the SNES Shadowrun, I finally got to beat the Sega Genesis Shadowrun the other day, and having beaten all canon Shadowrun Returns games before, plus the Antumbra Saga, now I'm just getting into Brothers to the End, really excited.

@Giopeppe

There are also some Easter Eggs you may have missed in act 7-1 (My ode to the masterpiece that is Tommy Wiseau's "The Room") and also in the Jumphouse there is some hidden 4th wall breaking dialog.

Thanks for playing it all the way through. I really appreciate your feedback.

Thanks for the reply!
Got all four endings, and explored nearly all the paths: I just need to try two of the three possible run of Act III (Fuchi and Claudia murder) and double check widow's chase.

I am compiling a (brief, lucky you! :D ) txt with bugs/oversight, I'll open a new discussione asap, possibly tomorrow. All in all the UGC is very solid.

Liked the canonic endings, in particular the "Stoic" one, a little less the "frag you" one, but it's a matter of personal taste I think.

I appreciate you checking it out and I'm glad you like it and thanks for the input. It really helps out.

As far as some of the issues you had, I'm trying to recreate them to fix them. The Act 9 issue with Ransom has plagued me since I started that act. Sometimes it's works fine, other times it breaks.

As far as the Tabatha/Michael thing goes, It's cliche, but being that in the Sega game they're lovers, I wanted to create that relationship and maybe add a little weight to the ending.

As far as the other thing the gold key, it's one of several Easter Eggs I hid in the game. It's used to open a hidden door in the Church of the Old Faith. Most levels have an Easter Egg or two hidden in them. Act X has a ton. If you want to unlock the secret ending,
