Description
Shiroko's Dye-able Headphones

If you're wondering why the description changed alongside with this update, it's because I forgot that the mod uploader overwrites everything, and I'm too lazy to retype it.

What's new:

Aside from the SS Headphones, which is now craftable in a tier 2 sewing machine and the unworn version of it (which can be crafted by hand, and you can exchange the versions through the same method as well), I have added SS Headset (Cap): which is craftable using a Cap, and the SS Headset. Its unworn version can be crafted using the same process as its cap-less counterpart, and vice-versa.

I also changed the SS Headphones' recipe to: 1 Iron Bar, 5 Copper Wires, 1 Synthetic Material, and 1 Silicon Board, because it's relatively cheaper.

Also, modded dyes have a high chance of not working with this mod BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT'LL CRASH YOUR GAME, THE HEADPHONES THEMSELVES JUST WON'T GET COLORED . There is some strange behavior if you use modded dyes on the SS Headset (Cap/Scarf) and its unworn version, since the cap itself is just a slightly modified Cap/Scarf (really, it's just some 8 or so pixels, besides the scarf which actually has no modifications). It shouldn't crash though, as I have tested some modded dyes on it and it didn't crash the game, it just either reverted to the base color (not the default, you'll know it if the headphones turn somewhat orange, but more muted than the orange dyed headphones), or in the case of some mods, dyes only the cap, and reverts the headset to the base color.

REMINDER THAT THE BASE COLOR IS NOT THE SAME AS THE DEFAULT COLOR OF THE HEADSET, THE BASE COLOR IS THE MUTED ORANGE, THE DEFAULT COLOR IS SOMEWHAT IN THE MIDDLE OF BLACK AND GREY

EDIT: I found out that Green's Dye Suite works with this mod, so I really recommend using it for custom colors. Sadly, I could not get the custom palettes to work, so I'll just list out the hex colors for the headset itself. You won't need to find the hex colors for the scarf and the cap, since both use Starbound's default colors. You will have to customize the headset colors itself.

Headset Frame Colors:
  • cc8214
  • cc8e42
  • cc9a44

Headset Light Colors:
  • 5adcc5
  • 98b280

Outline:
  • 803f00

Special thanks to:
ALL THE PEOPLE I THANKED BEFORE, BUT I ACCIDENTALLY DELETED FROM THE DESCRIPTION

Have fun!

Sorry, I stopped updating this mod. I don't mind someone taking over or just taking the sprites and adding them to their mod, maybe they can do better than this. I don't have the mod files as well, but I am pretty sure there is a way to get it from Steam. I don't need the credit as well.

Do you think you could add a version with the huge glasses item? I like seeing while i use my head phones.

Hm, I see. Thanks!
I'll make two versions then, one with and without the sprite mask.

eh, some headphones do actually look like that. i have a pair that approximately fit that description - i don't prefer them, but it's nice to have visual variety. can see why you might not like those ones though

Afterwards I tried another headphones mod that didn't mess with the sprite, personally I think it looks fine going straight through the hair, they can do that in real life after all. Unfortunatley they put significantly less work into their mod so the headset basically just looks like a round stick with two spheres on the end. I'll go ahead and leave it nameless so I don't offend anyone.

I'm always happy to help!

Oh, that's just the sprite mask doing its thing, 'cause it didn't sit right with me that there was still some hair above the top part of the headset, because I was thinking that the hair gets squished, when I made this back then. Thinking about it now, the reason sounds stupid somehow, so might as well just update the sprite mask, it's less work for me too. Or maybe I should just make the other version the one without a sprite mask, and make everything interchangeable, so it can work fine with those who do like the part where it "squishes" the top.

Thanks a lot! (for the greeting and your input as well)

Well happy late-birthday, for what it's worth.

Nope, it uses vanilla haircuts for me. Although the first time I put them on it removed any of the texture directly above the headphones, so it made the floran look like it was wearing a pony tail, at first I thought it was intentional lol.

I see, maybe I'll make a separate version for florans instead, since I think it's gonna mess up the other races as well if I do change it. Just gonna ask, do you have Cutebound installed as well? Maybe it's only the vanilla florans that have this problem if not. I'll test both, just in case.

It's on New Year by the way.
