Ironclad Class Light Corvette

The Ironclad Class Light Corvette is considered somewhat of a joke when compared to ships of a similar size and tonnage. Lightly armed and somewhat slow and unmanuverable, the Ironclad, as it name implies, is clad in sheets of heavy iron armour that protect every vital system from enemy fire. This gives this ship a capability of slugging it out against ships of a larger classification despite its three fixed weapon emplacements. Despite its slow speed and lack luster array of weapon emplacements, its intergrated cargo bays means that this ship has found a niche market with merchant fleets who are looking for a ship that can defend the larger, slower cargo freighters from pirate raiders and hostile skirmish fleets.
