So you are experiencing quite a lot of bugs recently and have installed no mods or custom content recently or maybe you installed a load?

Go to my documents folder and REMOVE the whole SIMS 3 folder and move it to desktop or somewhere else totally away from that area then start the launcher again and start the game

Once you done that, the folders that WERE in the documents are are remade and IN THEORY is as close as you can get to a fresh install without the instal if that makes anysense, THIS should hopefully solve the buggyness off your game, I suggest you do not move all your mods or custom content over in 1 hit, but smaller bundles so you can hopefully find the content that is bugging your game, this COULD even be somthing you recently installed from the EA exchange

Note: Some mods only work for various versions, as more and more updates come out, these mods or custom contents MAY conflict with something new. Chances are it will be 1 mod or a few mods causeing these issues SO it is VERY important you re install these mods in small bundels and run the game, even if its using a new game for testing these as it wont affect your favourite familys and worlds.

This can be solved very simply and hopefully will unbug most sims, this should be your first port of call unless you have Master controller mod installed where you can do the same by going through the menus

1. Open the cheat box (Crtl + Shift + C)
2. Type: resetsim (firstName lastName)

Most of you will probably be cursed by trees and bills and lots off them bugged in your inventry, ofcourse we do have a small fix in the master controller, however somthing I noticed when playing today was a regular clearout off the sims family inventry, the one in the BUY mode section.

Whilst the above may not be a confirmed solution/preventer, It might prevent you from getting them IF you are not a great fan of mods.

If your sim won't go to work, it's possibly a bug which involves a simple fix.

The first possible fix is to go to the dresser and select a different carear outfit. The second option is to go to edit town, evict the family and then move them back in.

Apparently the above should work and if not then they are just lazy apparently.

In order to fix this go to "plan outfit" in the dresser and simply make them a second career outfit

A very simple fix is to use the dresser with the affected sim and change outfit.

Adding this fix as its a recent fix I made, I had a no censor mod installed that I thought affected 1 thing and never had to update It is amazing how wrong I can be, it affected loads of things.


This has taught me to check FOR ALL mods are updated,even the ones that you think are one time mods.

The sytoms of this was no wings on fairys, not seeing insects and a lot of other fancy effects.

Slightly off topic for my guide BUT, I wanted to share 1 mod that works great for Sims.

Most of you will probably have this already however for those that do not, I totally recomend this as it CAN solve quite a few ingame issues, somtimes, this is the only fix, such as inventry fixes with lots of bills and trees, this ACTUALLY allows you to delete them and get rid off them haha.
