Manhattan

Description
About the game
Building boom in Manhattan! But not only there, skyscrapers are being built all over the world. The players have the possibility to construct as many buildings in Sydney, New York, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, São Paulo and Cairo as possible.
The question is, if everyone want’s to be their own architect or if they want to enter into their teammates business in order to take over their tower. It’s up to you!

Game Preparation
  • Every player chooses a color. The 24 building parts are the basis of your venture. One element is placed beneath the counting table.
  • One starting player is chosen and puts the yellow token onto his element.
  • The starting player deals 4 cards face down from the deck to every player. The remaining card stack is placed on the board.

Game Rules
  1. Beginning with the start player, every player chooses 6 building parts from their depository and sets them up in front of them. The other parts stay in the depository. New parts can only be drawn, if all 6 building parts have been placed.
  2. Now the starting player chooses one of his 4 cards on hand. He lays it down and places a building part of his choice at the given spot (see „How to build“). He then draws another card from the stack.
  3. In clockwise direction the other players do likewise. Play 1 card, place 1 building part and redraw 1 card.
  4. A round ends as soon as all players have placed their 6 building parts. Now the calculation starts. The points achieved are marked on the scoring table.
  5. After the calculation the starting player passes the yellow token to his left-hand neighbor who then becomes the new starting player. All building parts remain on the board.
  6. Now everybody chooses another 6 elements and so forth. The game ends after the fourth round when all building parts from the depository have been placed.
  7. Winner is the player who has the highest score on the scoring table.

How to build?
  • Cards are always placed face up when played. Both squares must face towards the board.
  • The red mark shows a certain building lot for every city. The player can choose in which city he want’s to place his building part. The same cards have different outcomes for every player naturally.
  • Every card can be used for each oft he six cities.
  • Building parts can be placed on free lots or own towers without restriction.
  • A tower always belongs to the player whose building part sits on top.
  • Building parts can be placed on other towers under the following circumstances: after the placement of a building part the active player has to have at least as many floors in the tower as the previous owner. It doesn’t matter how those floors are placed.

The Calculation
After all players have placed their 6 building parts the round ends and the calculation begins. The achieved points are marked on the scoring board.
  1. Highest tower
If there is one highest tower on the board, is owner earns 3 points. If there is two or more towers, no one gets 3 points.
  2. Majority of towers
Every city is checked for the player with the most towers. This player is awarded 2 points for the majority. If there’s no majority in a city, there will no points given.
  3. Single Towers
Every tower awards his owner 1 point. It doesn’t matter if the tower has already awarded other points.

TL;DR
  • At the beginning every player chooses 6 building parts
  • The players play 1 card, place 1 element and redraw 1 card – clockwisely
  • After the placement of a building part the active player has to have at least as many floors in the tower as the previous owner.
  • At the end of each round the points are calculated. Highest tower 3, majority (city) 2, each single tower 1 point
