[WoTC] Hunter Rifles

Description
This mod adds a new weapon type, the Hunter Rifle. Hunter Rifles are mid range weapons with high accuracy that mark targets with a debuff granting bonuses to flanking aim, crit damage and flanking crit chance to units shooting at the marked target.

WHAT IS IN THIS MOD:

  • New Hunter Rifle weapon for Xcom, Conventional, Magnetic and Plasma tiers.

INFO:

Hunter Rifles

Hunter rifles are a new weapon type, they "mark" targets they hit with a debuff that increases crit damage, crit chance when flanking, and aim when flanking the marked target. Their damage covers the range between Assault Rifle to Sniper Rifle, 4 to 6 damage for the conventional tier and they are medium range weapons, they have negative aim at short range and at long range, but possitive aim bonuses at medium range, on top of that they confer higher aim by default. They can also use more attachments than other weapons.

They are set up as "assault rifles" which means that any soldier that can use assault rifles can use them, so perhaps they could help rookies be more than grenade throwers.

How to obtain them:

The ballistic Hunter Rifle should be available from the start, in order to obtain the magnetic and plasma versions you need to research the magnetic and plasma sniper rifles respectively, once you have researched the sniper rifle technology you buy the hunter rifles from engineering like with any other weapon.

KNOWN ISSUES:

None at the moment.

COMPATIBILITY:

Usually i say "it should be compatible with everything", but then it turns out it isn't, so if you find any compatibility issues let me know.

TO DO LIST:

This is part 1 of like 5, if you played with my ADVENT Pathfinder mod in vanilla then you should know that there is a lot left to do, if you haven't then check that mod out to see what's coming.

FAQ:

Changes from the vanilla version?
A couple of things have changed, Hunter Rifles are now purchaces like normal weapons, you start with the ballistic rifle, then you upgrade them in engineering(after having researched sniper rifle tech) and that upgrades all your hunter rifles. Which is a big change from the horrow show i had going on in the vanilla version.

Hunter Rifles can also now shoot at targets that are already marked, in the vanilla version hunter rifles couldn't shoot at targets that were "hunter marked", this might prove to be a bit broken however so the stats on the rifle or the debuff are subject to change.

PERMISSIONS:

You are free to use anything and everything in this mod for your own mods and/or purposes, in fact not only are you allowed, i encourage you to do it.

SPECIAL THANKS:

Ginger and Robojumper for helping me get the Hunter Mark ability up and running.
Musashi for fixing the effect that shows on marked targets.

The range table says it has short and long range penalties:
These are the ideal ranges:
HUNTERRIFLE_BEAM_RANGE[11]=10
HUNTERRIFLE_BEAM_RANGE[12]=12
HUNTERRIFLE_BEAM_RANGE[13]=10

Is there a way to change the classification to a sniper rifle instead?

Neat weapon to add to the mix. Would recommend trying to mod. I found that I didn't use them much, but that was because I had so many other options for classes/weapons. If you're using a smaller set of mods I think this is a really nice addition.
