Strategic Supply

Description
This mod has the objective of giving a slightly more strategic aspect to logistic mechanics, by splitting the supply more equally between victory points and infrastructure.
VPs will give about 10x more supply, and infra about half.

My main gripe with this aspect of the game is that it annoyed me to no end to see so many divisions pouring into Siberia or Africa.
No matter how many railways you build in an inhospitable environment, it'll only alleviate the problem, not suddenly turn Ethiopia into Germany.

It also adds a layer of strategy to the battle plans, as now capturing Kiev and Sevastopol asap will be a priority on your way to Stalingrad, not just drawing an arrow to Stalingrad and pressing play.
And while we are talking about Stalingrad, the siege of big cities with a lot of divisions trapped in it also becomes much, much tougher, as they will be able to resist for much longer.

The net supply all around will indeed go down by quite a bit in this mod, so think twice before redeploying your 300 divisions to Alaska or something.
Another nice effect is that it should make the Mass Assault doctrine tree much more appealing this time around.

Beaware though, by increasing local supplies it will lead to some situations you wouldn't see before.
For example, if a German army were to be stranded in Britain, the VPs alone would be enough to supply them quite well.
That wouldn't actually be unrealistic imo, as capturing London or northern England would give you an considrable industrial base right there (I guess more unrealistic is having rifles produced in britain having to be shipped from Berlin, but oh well), but I do admit that it's less than optimal for the time it would take put that industry to work, and might break the gameplay in a way.

This mod is very simple, only altering a few defines, but I do have a pretty ambitious plan for it still, although I probably won't be able to do much anytime soon (likely not before 1.5).

This won't stop the AI from flooding supply lines. Furthermore, the AI won't recognize the supply differences, nor will they care about them. They will continue to produce more and more divisions regardless of the supplies in the provinces.

The only benefit I see this mod doing is making Player-led offensives more difficult, and core defenses easier. Otherwise, the AI will suffer attrition losses while the player uses strategy to fight the enemy.

Otherwise, this is an excellent multiplayer mod and I give you a thumbs up for that.

My dude, feel 100% free to use it, this is mod is very, very simple, literally only 4 defines altered.
That is also the reason why it doesn't need updating, it should work just fine with 1.5.
And to clarify, I'll probably still come back to this mod for that "ambitious plan", but still not likely anytime soon, I have quite a few things in the pipeline.
This was my first jab at modding a PDX game, right now I'm working on a more complex project for EU4, then I plan on coming back to HoI4 work on another pretty huge project, and only then I'll see what I'll do, so nothing even close to an ETA on that.

Will this work if someone added new cities or landmasses?
Vohen  [author] 7 Nov, 2017 @ 10:28pm
Yes.

Does this mod work with mods that change states?
