This Guide is for CoC 1.4.22!

The last time I played CoC was in early 2021. The mods worked good together back then.
Mod compatiblity/availability/stability might have changed since then.

I am NOT the support of any of these mods. For troubleshooting please contact the Creator.
Known Issues
1. Maybe the carry more weight mod gets replaced by something else. Just re-install it.
2. The Gore-Mod might cause game crashes on old save files.
FAQ
Q: Is Call of Chernobyl still updated?

A: No. The last release version came out in 2018 and the dev made a post about quitting development.

Q: Are these mods compatible with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly?

A: I don't know, but I don't think so.

Q: Should I play Anomaly rather than CoC?

A: It's up to you. Anomaly is much more a hardcore survival sim than CoC and there is much more speaking for Anomaly. This doesn't mean CoC is bad by any means. If you are looking for a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. experience that's not a hardcore survival sim and plays more like the original games, give CoC a try.

Q: What about Gunslinger as weapon add on?

A: Gunslinger came out when I had already stopped playing CoC for quite some time. It's probably compatible with the add-ons here, but I haven't tried it.

Q: Hey, I got "Error Code 13371312161". What does it mean?

A: As said: I am not the support for the game or any mods.
Support

Installation
1. Download CoC + patch and extract the .7z file with 7zip[www.7-zip.org] (thats it, as this is a standalone mod)
2. Create a folder called "gamedata" in your CoC directory
3. Drag the the Mods into the CoC directory. This goes for most of the Mods, not all of them! Always have a look into the readme file!

For more information about a Mod just have a look at its ModDB-Page.

Weapons
AO3 adds lots of new weapons an attachments to the game. New AKs, Pistols, Machineguns, Sniper Rifles etc.

http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/arsenal-overhaul

This Sound Mod will give a bunch of weapons a more realistic sound.

http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/arsenal-overhaul-3-insurgency-sound-mod-v3

This Mod will increase the weapon damage. I recommend this for advanced players as you will die from a few hits, especially on higher difficulties.

This will replace the black box you had for scopes with a bunch of new, “real” scopes.

http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/dodge-these-gnomus-scopes-coc-stcop

Another useful mod lets you unload all the guns in your inventory at once.

https://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/coc-unload-all-weapons-142215-r6

As you want to upgrade your favourite guns, this will add a bunch of new upgrades.

Fast Travel
Fast Travel
These two mods will give you the opportunity to travel fast, as walking all over the map can be a pain in the a**. I also only recommend this to players who are familiar with the map, as some fast travel locations might be in enemy territory or near dangerous mutants.

Graphics
These three Mods will improve the graphics. It is re-texturing as the map cant be re-modeled that easy.

and

or

Better NPC Models
This AddOn has been removed. If anyone has/knows a mirror please feel free to write it into the comments!

Toska HD-Models provides you a better looking and more varied bunch of NPC Models, so you won't meet a group of same looking STALKERs anymore.

"About 90% of the NPC-Population has new a new Model. 99,9% Compatible with other Addons."

Download has been removed from ModDB

DoctorX AddOns
The four DoctorX AddOns will add questlines for each faction, more mutants, overhaul the faction relations and make them dynamic. For e.g. Duty and Loner start as neutral, but may declare a firefight or alliance.
For the correct installation order have a look into the ReadMe!

Small AddOns
Here are some small AddOns, which do not fit into a specific category.
I highly recommend all of them!

Lootable Money
Whenever you loot a dead human you will receive a small amount of money

http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/lootmoney-for-coc-14

Lootable Suits

Gives you a 10% chance to loot the suit of a dead body

https://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/outfit-loot-coc-1-4-22

Inaccurate Zombies
If you played SoC you might remember the Zombies and their sniping ability. This mod make them inaccurate.

http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/inaccurate-zombies-coc-14

Increased Carry Weight
This one improves your carry weight from 50 KG (max. 70 KG) to 100 KG (max. 120KG).

http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/increased-carry-weight

PDA/Geiger counter sounds
Muffles and pans the sounds of the PDA and Geiger counter to give the impression that there are devices located in the character's pockets.

http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/muffled-pda-geiger

Slower Respawns
Decrease the respawn rate. So if you are not using fast travel or can not fast travel at the moment you do not need to fight your way back.
Also “cleared” areas stay cleared longer, which is more realistic.

Re-Armed Military
The military is now armed with Russian rifles only. More realistic in my opinion.

http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/military-re-armament-for-ao-31

Stashes from SoC and CS

More loot!

https://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/stashes-from-soc-and-cs-for-coc-1-4-22

Traders buy damaged Guns
This is self-explaining. Now you do not need to spend more money to repair weapons you want to sell. The amount of money you will receive is smaller, but that’s manageable.

http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/traders-buy-damaged-weapons-ao3-1410

NPC guns in better condition
Another self-explaining Mod.

http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/better-weapon-conditions

Gore-Mod
As the old Gore-Mod was noch compatible with some AddOns use this one.
FYI: The mod is kinda broken! It fcks up the system.ltx file, but you can ...somehow? get the same results but only copying the textures directory. (TY Skull)

If there is already one, keep it.

Hey! The "gamedata" folder is already there, should I just drop the mods in the folders in there or do something else?

Ok, thanks

I think you should start with the original trilogy. There you will learn a lot about the factions, the lore and the game world.

I'm thinking of starting to play STALKER, and I just want to know if i should start with the original stalker or use call of chernobyl for that?
Jean le Point  [author] 22 Feb, 2022 @ 6:08am
I believe most of them will work with Call of Pripyat too.
sinsorrow1 22 Feb, 2022 @ 5:21am
