Introduction

Note: There have been look-a-like copycat guides popping up. If it's not labeled by THN (The Horror Network), it's NOT one of mine and therefore not up to the quality that I aim to provide.

Welcome to The Evil Within 2 achievement guide.

It is recommended to split up your completion into 3 playthroughs, although it can be done with 2. You must complete the game once, either on Casual, Survival, or Nightmare, all of which stack, and then again on Classic which is unlocked after initial completion.

Enjoy your first playthrough on the difficulty of your choosing, though Casual or Survival is recommended. Most collectibles are easy to find without a guide, so if you want to go through and just enjoy the story first, do that. Your second playthrough will be Nightmare, and your third will be Classic. Otherwise, start on Nightmare, and you'll just have to do Classic.

Even though this game is semi-open world, there are multiple areas of no return. So if you are collectible hunting, keep that in mind.

Chapter Specific
Sometimes Fighting Isn't the Answer
Avoided unnecessary bloodshed outside City Hall. (Ch. 5)
When you get to City Hall in Chapter 5, you will encounter the multi-headed female demon once again. DO NOT SHOOT HER. Looking toward the building, run away from her to the left until you see some red barrels. Shoot them, keep running and take a right. Shoot the crates, keep running to the door and open it.

Death From Above
Killed 2 or more enemies at once using a hanging lamp. (Ch. 9)
After you grab the crank handle in Chapter 9, you will see large hanging "lamps", they're more like chandeliers. Two enemies will come out from behind a door, lure them on out toward you and under the lamp, then shoot it to make it fall on them.

No More Playing With Fire
Stopped a true believer from playing with his favorite toy. (Ch. 11)
In the fight with O'Neil during Chapter 11, simply shoot his tank until it explodes so that he can no longer use his flamethrower.

Melancholy Memories
Reminisced about every moment from your past. (Ch. 12)
During Chapter 12, you will wake back up in Sebastian's house. Simply interact wtih 3 objects to get this achievement. The first one is the "Mom, Dad, Me" drawing by Lily, right outside of the room you start in, in the hallway. The second is Sebastian's desk, in a room right across from the drawing. The third is Myra's graduation photo, located on the main floor of the house in the living room, on the bookshelf.

I'll Take You Down Myself
Brought your own equipment to the barbecue this time. (Ch. 14)
Make sure you grabbed the flamethrower that O'Neil drops in Chapter 11, and that you kill at least two of his flamer buddies around the map in Chapter 13 to get their tanks. Craft the flamethrower thereafter. You need to kill Laura in Chapter 14 with the flamethrower. Just keep burning the crap out of her until she finally dies.

Difficulty Based
Rookie
Completed the game on Casual difficulty or higher.
Self explanitory.

Survivor
Completed the game on Survival difficulty or higher.
Self explanitory.

Against All Odds
Completed the game on Nightmare difficulty or higher.
Self explanitory.

You Asked For It... Again
Completed the game in Classic Mode.
This mode is only unlocked after beating the game once. It's extremely difficult, and you must start from scratch rather than a New Game Plus type of situation. Good luck.

Collectibles
Echoes Within STEM
Observed all Residual Memories.
Most of these are right in your way, so they're hard to miss. They're also easy to locate with Sebastian's radio. However, the locations are in the video guide.

All in the Family
Collected all of the Mysterious Objects.
The Mysterious Objects are all hidden Easter Egg items. They're pretty well hidden, and are revealed in the video guide.

Chatting With Kidman
Talked to Kidman about all of the photographic slides.
The slides are almost always placed right in your direct path. After grabbing one, you have to go back to Sebastian's room to use the projector and talk to Kidman. The locations are in the video guide.

Half the Stash
Opened 16 lockers.
See Locksmith for more details.

Locksmith
Opened all lockers.
For these achievements, you need to find all 32 keys and then open the 32 lockers. The lockers are present when you go to the ability upgrade chair. For all key locations, refer to the video guide.

Doing Some Detecting
Collected 20 files
See Diligent Reader for more details.

Diligent Reader
Collected all files.
You should be able to find most files with relative ease if you're exploring the maps. I ended my first playthrough with only two missing files out of the 40. Refer to the video guide for all locations.

Kill Related
Thinning Them Out
Killed 30 enemies.
Easy and self-explanitory.

Clearing a Path
Killed 60 enemies.
Easy and self-explanitory.

I Am The Night
Killed 10 enemies using Sneak Kills.
Extremely easy to get. Simply crouch and sneak up on your foes, and press the prompt when close enough to engage in a Sneak Kill.

Kick, Shoot, Burn
Killed 2 or more enemies at once using oil on the ground.
Oil is everywhere, from cars leaking it to bright red cans that can be kicked over. It produces a rainbow colored gasoline effect on the ground so it's easy to spot, too. Wait until two enemies are standing in the pool, then shoot it. They'll become engulfed in flames and die.

Shock Therapy
Stunned an enemy standing in water using a Shock Bolt.
You're able to uncap fire hydrants during the early part of the game. Do this when some enemies are close by, then lure them into the water and shoot it with an Electric Bolt.

Smoke Assassin
Killed 3 enemies using upgraded Smoke Bolts.
Once you upgrade your Smoke Bolts, they'll do damage. Simply kill 3 enemies with these bolts and the achievement is yours.

Wait For It...
Killed an enemy using an Ambush.
In the Stealth skill tree, there's a special move that can be acquired called Ambush. You must wait around the corner of an object, wait until the enemy gets close enough, and then press the prompt to Sneak Kill them from around the corner.

Bootable Offense
Stomped and killed 15 fallen enemies.
This is easier to get once you get the combat upgrade that lets you kick an enemy when they're close enough. This often causes them to fall down. Once they do, stomp them to finish them off. Otherwise, shooting enemies in the leg makes them fall as well.

Weapons, Crafting, & Upgrades
Good to See You Again
Acquired the Warden Crossbow.
Before you do anything after entering the open world, check your map and/or radio for a location marker/signal for the Warden Crossbow. You shouldn't be able to miss it since it's essential for opening some doors, but you never know.

Powerhouse
Acquired all standard weapons.
This achievement includes gaining access to the Magnum after beating the game once, and the Brass Knuckles while playing on Nightmare or Classic mode. The list of weapons is as follows:
- Handgun [Standard, Laser-Sighted, Silenced, Sebastian's Revolver]
- Shotgun [Standard, Double Barrel, Sawed Off]
- Sniper Rifle
- Assault Rifle
- Warden's Crossbow
- Flamethrower
- Magnum
- Brass Knuckles

A Little Extra Kick to it
Upgraded one of your Warden Crossbow bolts to max level.
I recommend the Smoke Bolt, simply for getting its achievement quicker.

DIY
Crafted something for the first time.
There's little chance you'll go through the game without crafting. Self explanitory.

Handyman
Crafted every type of item at least once.
The known list of craftables are:
- Handgun ammo
- Magnum ammo
- Shotgun ammo
- Sniper rifle ammo
- Assault rifle ammo
- Flamethrower fuel
- Shock, Explosion, Smoke, Freeze, Harpoon bolts
- Health kit
- Syringe

Making Things a Little Easier
Used your first High-Grade Weapon Parts.
These parts are found in small quantities through the game, and it unlocks a higher tier of upgrade options. Use your first one as you see fit at the crafting bench for this achievement.

Now You're Playing with Power
Upgraded a weapon to Level 3.
For a weapon to get to Level 3, it must have at least one category tier in it unlocked to that level. This means you will need to use at least 3 of the High-Grade Weapon Parts in one category, on one weapon.

They Never Even Stood A Chance
Completely upgraded all weapons.
This could potentially take a while, depending on the time you take to explore and find High-Grade Weapon Parts. Once you find enough of those, you're in the clear pretty much as regular parts are rather plentiful.

You Got Red in You
Used your first Red Gel
This works similarly to High-Grade Wapon Parts, in that it unlocks new tiers of abilities for Sebastian. Once you grab your first jar of it, head to the upgrade chair and use it as you see fit.

Stick it in My Veins
Completely upgraded all abilities.
This will take a while, seeing as two of the largest upgrades require 75,000 and 20,000 green gel. Two playthroughs should suffice, given the 30,000 green gel boost one gets after completing the game once.

Misc.
Caffeine Addict
Used every Coffee Maker at least once.
You will be required to visit every safe house at least once during the campaign. Simply use every coffee maker (there is one in each house) at least once and the achievement is yours.

That Cinematic Feel...
Opted for a cinematic experience.
After beating the game once, the option to have the cinematic letterheads is available. Simply go into the options menu and enable it. You can disable it after the achievement pops.

Side Missions
Backup Ain't Coming
Completed the "Rogue Signal" side mission.
This is your first mission, and it's given to you by O'Neil. Make sure you complete it prior to finding Lily's signal.

Sykes Out
Completed the "The Last Step" side mission.
This is your second mission, and it's given to you by Sykes. Complete it prior to continuing with any main story progression.

Finally Free
Experienced every traumatic encounter and made peace with your inner demons.
This is given at the end of the game (it was for me anyway, for another user it was given at the end of the third encounter), so long as you've accomplished all three side encounters that occur with Anima, the singing ghost.
- The first encounter is at 336 Ceder Avenue in Chapter 3
- The second encounter is in the Diner in Chapter 7
- The final encounter is in the Restricted Labs in Chapter 11

I've upgraded wall my weapons, but didn't count, anyone knows what to do in this case, in order to get the "They Never Even Stood A Chance" achievement?
Saggioro 30 Dec, 2022 @ 5:33pm
It would be too easy if you could play in the easiest difficult and then choose a ng+ in the highest difficulty, it removes the idea of been challenge.
thegreenkrs 24 Dec, 2022 @ 1:00pm
You can't choose higher difficulty in ng+

The "Not Running This Time" achievement is actually missable if you go for the "Sometimes Fighting Isn't the Answer" achievement.

I'll look more into this. That may not have been an option when the game first came out. Thanks for the info.

Sorry but the achievement "Not Running This Time" is totally missable. What I did is I escaped instead of fighting so I got the other one which you listed in Chapter Specific. I suggest you move that one as well.
