Description
Arise from the Sands of Old, rise Anubis, Lord and Guide of the Dead.

This Mod adds the old Egyptian God Anubis and his land of Sanubia to the game as a Playable civilization!

This Mod also includes a new Religion that can be started, known by default as the "Cult of Anubis", its symbol that of the visage of Anubis. If Anubis is ever an AI in your game, he will by default choose this when starting a religion.

Sanubia is an old region, a jewel of antiquity along the northern edge of the Nubian Desert. Its nomads and settlements staunch followers of one of the Egyptian Pantheon's oldest, Anubis. This civilization focuses heavily upon Religion, and can sharpen that focus of Religion into either a war-torn Domination Victory, or a culturally-driven Tourism victory.

==========

Unique Ability
Anubis' Unique Ability would be Guide of the Dead. His ability grants him an additional belief whenever founding a religion. He also starts with a Shrine when founding his first city, and gains a Free Great General upon finishing Theology.

With Anubis intended to be a Religious powerhouse, this ability helps him secure a Religion of his own, as well as empower it even further. This lets him shape which Victory Anubis wants to strive towards, with the Great General bonus pushing him into more of a Warring State as it will be acquired around the time Anubis is getting well into a fight.

Unique Unit
The Unique Unit of Sanubia is the Anubite Elite. It is a Classical Era unit that replaces the Swordsman, and requires Iron to produce. These Elite khopesh-wielding anubians are the ranks of the early Sanubian Army, standing powerful with a supernatural level of endurance. That endurance is fueled by the Elite's special ability, allowing it to heal off of Unit Kills, while also healing every turn. Every kill also brings forward a bonus of faith, to further empower the Anubian Religion.

Use this unit as the bulk of your army when invading, as its regenerative powers can help initiate attack with low casualties. They are more expensive than standard swordsmen, so use them intelligently to change the tides of battle.

Stats:
16 Combat
2 Sight
2 Movement
Cost: 100
Faith Cost: 250

Unique Building
The Unique Building of Sanubia is the Necropolis. It is a powerful Classical-Era building that replaces the Temple, and provides a massive boost of faith per turn, as well as a small boost to culture per turn. The Necropolis will also provide 15 EXP to all Land Units generated within the city. However, it will cost more to produce than a standard Temple, and has a high maintenance cost of 5 gold per turn.

The Necropolis will be the primary Faith generator for Sanubia. With its high faith yield, use it to secure an early religion to make the most of Anubis' unique ability, while also using the Necropolis to add a little more EXP to your units, especially your Anubite Elite. Make sure you have the gold to support it however, as it is a costly building to maintain, despite its bonuses.

Stats:
Maintenance: 5 Gold per Turn
Provides +5 Faith per Turn
Provides +2 Culture per Turn
Provides +15 EXP to Land Units
Cost: 175 production (differs with start era & game pace)

==========

Notes:
Models for Anubite Elite were sourced from Vojuln's Khopesh Warrior mod. Textures were altered by hand.
Leader Art used is credited to Shaun Linn / Deriaz.
Music comes from multiple sources, including:
Two Steps from Hell
Nightwish
Dylan Jones
Darek Fiechter
Peter Crowley

==========

IMPORTANT:

As with all of my mods, it is strongly recommended that you have ALL OF THE DLC as these mods are made with both of the expansions and all Leader DLC in mind. If you do not have either of the Expansions, or some of the Leader DLC, this mod MAY not work!

Easily my favorite mod for Civ 5 only close to being rivaled by a mod that adds unitology from dead space.

Hi, do you by any chance do commissions for civs? Thanks :)

I think the necropolis should cost 150 production instead of 175. You already have to pay an extra 3 gpt, which is a lot at that point in the game.

I wouldn't hold my breath unless someone else is doing it. I've not yet purchased Civ6 so don't expect anything from me for that game until I find the time to play the game and learn about its modding.
