Halo - The Flood

Description
Adds the Flood parasite from Halo into Civilization V as a fully playable Civilization, ruled by the Gravemind.

The Flood are a terrifying parasitical lifeform from the Halo games, now welcomed into Civilization V as a Civilization revolving around numerical superiority, much like their tactics in the games themselves. Their uniques allow them to produce more units faster and with less strain on their economy, allowing them to build up a sizable force much quicker than other Civilizations and to use their numerical superiority to overwhelm their enemies, with little need for tactics. Especially good for brute force campaigns, a Flood army is easily able to quickly replace its casualties.

In terms of the personality when controlled by the AI, the Flood Civ is very warlike and hostile, almost guaranteed to declare wars on their neighbors with the intent of infecting the entire world. In addition, they are very fond of denouncing their opponents quickly, a feature that I implemented with the hopes that it will allow other AI players to join together against the Flood tide, negating some of their numerical advantage. Do not attempt to make friends with the Flood, only terminate them as quickly and as efficiently as possible, because they will try to assimilate you.

====Unique Ability - The Great Tide====
No maintenance cost for land Units, (Does not extend to civilian units,) but 50% more experience is required to earn your next promotion. This serves to allow players to field large armies without being concerned about their economy.

====Unique Unit - Tank Form====
The Flood Tank Form, replacing the XCOM Squad, is an Information Era Unit that is geared towards the Flood's playstyle of numerical superiority. Despite being much weaker than its vanilla counterpart and lacking a paradrop ability, the Tank Form's Production cost in a city is much lower than any Information Era Unit, allowing it to be built and sent to the front lines in rapid succession. Coupled with the lack of maintenance, an army consisting purely of Tank Forms can be constructed very quickly, for an situation.

====Unique Building - Hive====
The Hive, replacing the Military Base, is a building that may be constructed in Cities to bolster land unit production by 25%, allowing an Information Era Flood to produce their armies that much faster. It does not provide any city defense, and is more designed to fuel an offensive campaign by the player or the AI, whichever one may be controlling the Flood.

!!!!As usual, the mod totally requires Brave New World but is not actually set to require Brave New World, allowing those without the second expansion pack to play the mod, however broken it may be. I have not tested this mod on Gods & Kings, but it's likely that the mod should work without most of its functionality for those that do not have Brave New World.

Unfortunately I don't think there's a way to make certain units spawn at the capital when you kill enemies.

Look for the file Civ5UnitPromotions_Inherited_Expansion2.xml which is somewhere in the game's install folder, I searched for it and made a copy. Inside there you'll find the code for the Prize Ships promotion. Skipping that step, the specific code that makes a Promotion add the ability for Units to have a random chance to capture enemies when killed is<CaptureDefeatedEnemy>true</CaptureDefeatedEnemy>

tbh, i didnt get it to work yet. Rn, it only converts barbarian units. which is still better than nothing tho. i couldnt find the code from the prize ships. i have all the dlc's and no idea where to look exactly so after 1 hour searching, my limit for the day was reached. That being said. Do u know if there is also a way than whenever u kill an unit, a "X" type unit gets spawned at the capital? This is how an zombiemod works. i wanted to make a "weak" melee unit that gets spawned when u kill an enemy unit. this makes it less OP but still an basic flood function

I hope you have fun. To be honest I probably would've added that feature to the Flood myself because it makes a lot of sense but I didn't end up doing so for a myriad of reasons, namely that I have other Civilizations with similar play styles, that it wouldn't make sense, (why would tanks infect enemy units?) and that at the end of the day I think having every single Unit you have capable of capturing enemy Units might be just a bit more OP than I'd like for balance. But yeah, go nuts and feel free to mod my mod XD

Shouldn't be too hard to throw together the custom Promotion and then add it to the Flood's units. You could make a client-based modification to your copy of the Flood mod with the custom Promotion or you could make a separate addon that gets added to the Flood Civilization when activated. Either way it should be easy - and if you need help doing it I'll be here for tech support. Heck, I'd do it myself if I didn't have a few other projects to work on.

Well thanks for the response. i will be adding that to it. i love how the flood work in the story's ad find it to bad there arent alot of games in which u can actually be them. so im glad i an play them in this game to some basics.

I should add: Flood melee units. Wouldn't make sense for an Artillery to shoot at an enemy several tiles away then suddenly that enemy is Flood now.

The closest you could get to something like that would be the capture chance ability. Copy the code for the Prize Ships unit promotion that the Ottomans have, and give it to all Flood units. With that, you'll have a random chance to capture an enemy Unit when you kill it, which I guess is pretty close to what you're aiming for.

Could u tell me how to add the feature that when a flood unit kills someone, it spawns a new flood unit? ive been trying to reconstruct it from some zombiemod, but i cant get it to work.

Interesting suggestion. I think the reason I didn't opt for something like that was because I wanted to save the capturing-units ability for Yuri, from Red Alert 2.

K so I just realized the flood can build every unit in the game like a normal civ so like totally ignore what i said i guess

you could give flood units the prize ships promo upon creation giving them a 50% chance to convert units when they are killed. This could be the only way the flood can acquire new units. It also can provide balance to the fact they can shit out units at an insane rate having no maintenance cost for infection forms. Just a small suggestion.
