Description
OBOW: Pronounced "oboe" (yes, like the instrument), it stands for "Overseer's Balance Overhaul for Weapons".

This is a script that rebalances the Arctic Warfare sniper rifle. In my Arctic Warfare Rebalance mod [], already explained why it really needed an upgrade. This is simply a .50 BMG rechamber of the same gun, using a real-world Arctic Warfare variant, called the AW50.

Its fire rate was decreased slightly more than my .338 Arctic Warfare to compensate for substantially increased damage. It can and will kill a Charger in a single shot. I also increased piercing even further to compensate for fewer shots. Firing one of these shots into a charging horde will clear a long and gory line through their charge, making this weapon far less useless against groups of Commons. Lastly, I made the usual miscellaneous tweaks, all listed in the below stat changes section.

WARNING:
Weapon replacers for the Counter-Strike weapons often come with a script file like this one, specifically to fix an issue that makes the gun left handed. Basically, the default game script has a certain setting that makes the weapon count as left handed. This is fine on the default weapon model, since it was built right-handed even though it was flagged for the opposite. The trouble comes when someone builds a new gun model that replaces the Counter-Strike weapon in question. In that case, the new weapon would become left-handed, unless the gun's author included a script to overwrite the original one, flagging the weapon as right-handed again. This works, but it also makes compatibility with stat-replacing scripts like this one a bit tricky. You'll know it's a problem if this mod is red (conflicting) in your addons list with a weapon replacer mod.
Basically, to get this mod to work for you, you will either need to avoid using a weapon replacer (I find them essential!), or you will need to remove the included script in the weapon replacer you use. You will need to use the GCFScape tool [] to open the weapon replacer's .vpk file in your addons folder, extract the mod, delete the script it comes with, then turn it back into a .vpk again by using the "vpk.exe" in the "bin" folder in your Left 4 Dead 2's install directory. What you would need to do, step-by-step is listed below.

SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS:
1.Download GCFScape (works like 7Zip or WinRar for .vpks), unzip and put it somewhere where you'll remember it.
2.Now you'll need to find the mod you want to edit. It'll be in your Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\addons\workshop folder, and it'll have a name like "123096325.vpk" or something. To find the specific mod faster, look at the end digits in the URL for the Workshop page for the mod. Those digits (the ID) are the same as the name of the mod in your Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\addons\workshop folder.
3.Once you've found the right mod, open it with GCFScape. You'll be able to open .vpk files and poke around inside them, but you cannot simply delete items inside like 7Zip. To edit .vpks, you'll need to extract the entire mod, make the edits you want, then turn it back into a .vpk again. But first, with the mod open in GCFScape, right-click on the "root" folder, click "Extract," and extract it somewhere. Go to where you extracted it, open that root folder, then find the weapon_[WEAPON NAME HERE].txt file in the "scripts" folder and delete it. Now you need to turn that root folder back into a .vpk.
4.Go to your Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\bin folder, and find "vpk.exe" (if it's not there, you may need to install "L4D2 Authoring Tools" in the "Tools" tab in Steam). If you drag any folder onto the vpk.exe, it'll automatically create a .vpk next to it. Do that with your modified root folder, then rename the resulting .vpk file to the exact name of the mod in your addons folder. Overwrite the original with your edited version and voila! Your weapon will no longer be left handed and my script mod will work uncontested.

Note that if you redownload the weapon mod from the Workshop later, it'll be downloaded with the script again, and you'll need to repeat this process. You can also use GCFScape to open and modify any mod, such as replacing a gunfire sound with one you prefer.

Unless you've got a legitimate issue that I didn't cover, please, just use the internet for help. It's a pain in the butt, but it's really not that complicated, and that's how I learned to do it.

i really love this script, makes it an extremely good special infected + tank killer at the cost of being absolute dogshit against normal horde it's the type of situational weapon you don't really see in l4d2 scripts and i appreciate how obow scripts change the role of the weapon via stuff like this

This script works with this and doesn't conflict.

@ShadowX & Falerin:
Thanks. xD The trouble is, if I release multiple versions of everything, then every time I edit anything I have to reupload and maintain the mod twice. Every time, regardless of how small the edit. I know it probably sounds really daunting, but it's actually not so bad to fix the mods yourself. I highly recommend it. :) Still, if at all possible, I want to avoid mutli-versions of my mods.

That might work. I appreciate your civility, responsiveness, and willingness to actually help the users rather than just being all "deal with it."

@ShadowX & Falerin:
Well, it's okay. I see your point and hear what you're saying. Unfortunately, I can't fix this issue for users. The only thing I can do is release a non-right-handed version of my mod.

I'd like to know why you're having us climb down into the files to fix the conflict with all the skin mods on the workshop when you probably could have done that yourself while making these scripts. I don't care what side of the screen it's on, I just want a simple and easy solution to all these conflicts.

I'm not trying to be rude, I'm trying to say exactly what I mean.

@Froztyghost: The hidden AWP sniper rifle. To use it in game, you'll need to get either of these mods:

This one is the original unlocker, and works perfectly.

This one does the exact same thing as the above mod, but works with custom added weapons too.
