Description
OBO, pronounced "oboe" (yes, like the instrument), stands for "Overall Balance Overhaul."

This is a script that rebalances the SCAR / Burst / Combat / Desert Rifle to bring it in line with my other rebalance script mods. This weapon was, I think, a really cool addition to L4D, giving the ARs some nice variety. In terms of balance it was decent, with good accuracy, a large magazine, and seemed to have a good damage output. However, despite its magazine, it had the longest reload time of the ARs by a hefty margin and it's actual DPS was surprisingly low. The DPS is also an issue due to a hardcoded burst fire rate.

I wanted to maintain this weapon's position, with sustainability (length of firing until running dry) and accuracy being its strengths. It is the only one of my OBO ARs that can reach pinpoint accuracy when crouched (without a laser sight), and despite this, it's vertical kick has been upped a bit to make the weapon require a bit more manual control during bursts. It's also gotten a significant damage boost that makes it able to twoshot Commons on Expert, since requiring all three shots to connect made the weapon a very tedious choice, similar to the vanilla M16's fourshot requirement, which is why the AK was the only viable AR on Expert.

It also has many little changes too, all listed below. Overall, this weapon will be a solid, accurate, and reliable damage dealer, on par with both the M16 and AK-47 with its own role.

Changelog (X means unchanged):

VerticalPunch - 1 to 1.5
SpreadPerShot - 0.6 to 1.8
MaxSpread - 25 to 20
SpreadDecay - 4 to 12
MinDuckingSpread - 0.05 to X
MinStandingSpread - 0.35 to X
MinInAirSpread - 1.25 to 0
MaxMovementSpread - 4 to 2.25
DeployDuration - ? to 0.55 (added this line)
PenetrationNumLayers - 2 to X
PenetrationPower - 50 to 71
PenetrationMaxDistance - 0 to X
Damage - 44 to 50
CycleTime - 0.07 to X (Doesn't affect in-game burst delay, which equals roughly 8.2RPS/492RPM/0.1219 delay)
clip_size - 60 to X

Disclaimer about the preview screenshot(s):
I got them randomly off the internet. I claim nothing. If need be, I'll replace them with something generic from Wikipedia or something.

Though a headshot from any weapon would instantly kill player controlled Specials.

@DrMarioProjectM:
Yeah, this mod was made with Coop in mind, so it might be slightly too strong against player Specials. The whole reason I upped this weapon in particular's damage to 50 wasn't just to be able to kill Commons in two bullets, but also because most Special Infected have HP values that are multiples of 50 as well, which makes this weapon a decent Special screener if your party is lacking in dedicated anti-Special weapons. But yeah, I could ramble about balance for hours.

Though if I wanted to use these for my private versus servers with bots, I would have to increase the Special Infected health to account for the altered damage per shot.

@DrMarioProjectM:
Thank you.

@Konii:
What do you mean? I've already made several Pistol rebalance mods. You can find them in the above collections. Is that what you meant?

@Lanboing R.S:
I have no idea what that means, but I'm glad you're happy. :)

@Lankycide (SCP Book) You do a great job.

Great job on this, could you maybe somehow work on a script for the regular pistols?

Yeah, this is just a script. You'll need the model to go with it. ;)

The model I used in the images is this one:

There's also an Olive Drab colour version of it:
