Description
Build Name:

GRIM - (Gravity Roaming Interfaced Mecha)

Build Features:

- GRIM traverses the surface of a planet with "gravity boot"-like behavior utilizing Landing Gear. Walking mechanism is autonomous requiring minimal input from pilot.

- Steering can be done through traditional means like mouse + arrows (+ thrusters?).

- GRIM comes complete with dual reloadable rockets attached to rotors that can be utilized in combination with a torso rotor for firing in all possible directions. For less "mechanical" firing and automation, you can simply replace the current setup with traditional turrets (the current design makes this easy)!

- Cockpit and other functionally required components are protected by heavy armor to the extent allowed by it's vanilla design. Cockpit armor features a retractable cover.

- In case the walking mechanism is rendered (or deemed >.<) useless, the upper portion can simply be detached to continue without legs.

- Walking script is written to be readable, editable and independent of this build. Most functionality has been extrapolated into constants that can be adjusted as desired (higher steps, faster steps, more rotation, etc). Best of all (IMO), script is dynamic enough to be utilized on each leg independently. This is to allow adaptability when working towards quad-pedal mechs (hinted in the video!).

Build Flaws:

- GRIM is a heavy mech and therefore moves slow. Future iterations may feature lighter mechs and/or refined walking scripts.

- For the time being walking appears effective across most terrain. Steep inclines/declines give foreseen problems, but the gravity boots do help!

- Utilizes a full hotbar for standard controls.
- 4 buttons for walk mechanisms (start/stop/stand/stop-standing).
- 4 buttons for weapons (up/down/stop/fire).
- 1 button for safety lock that allows upper portion to be independent of lower portion.

Hotbar layout:
- Some thought was put into the placement of keys given functionality, but feel free to customize!

Hotbar - 1
1. Trigger Stand Timer
- When triggered, this will begin loop for setting leg pistons and rotors to a standing position. This timer will continue until all leg rotors are at angle=0 and leg pistons are fully retracted. This option also completely stops any walking actions currently running.
2. Start Walk
- Walk is Timer driven, this button starts the timer.
3. Stop Walk
- Walk is Timer driven, this button stops the timer.
NOTES:
- Though this option stops the timer, it does not stop "helper" logic from happening. To stop all unit walk actions use option 1.
4. On/Off Toggle Stand Timer
- Timer will be off when not in use. If rotors and pistons cannot fully reset, the timer will get stuck in an endless loop. Toggle this to Off to stop the loop.
5. Toggle Safety Lock of Torso Rotor
- Unlock to gain control of upper portion of unit independently. Upper portion of unit is attached by a Rotor, this gives pilot ability to point unit in all X/Z directions without moving entire unit.
NOTES:
- Unit DOES NOT move in direction of upper portion when unlocked.
- Unit may get "disoriented" when rotating upper portion while walking. It is recommended that you stop walking (option 1) before attempting to rotate upper portion, or limit unlocked stage to brief moments when Feet Gear are locked with the surface.
6. Rotate Rockets (Down)
- Rockets are on a Rotor, giving pilot the ability to fire in all Y/Z directions. NOTE: One press of this button begins continual rotation until stopped.
7. Rotate Rockets (Stop)
- Using Down/Up (option 6/8 respectively) begins continual rotation. This button stops rotation.
8. Rotate Rockets (Up)
- Rockets are on a Rotor, giving pilot the ability to fire in all Y/Z directions. NOTE: One press of this button begins continual rotation until stopped.
9. Fire Rockets (Once)
Hotbar - 2
1. Extend Cabin Shield Piston
- Cabin is protected by a heavy armor shield. This option extends the shield piston, slightly exposing the cockpit.
2. Rectract Cabin Shield Piston
- Cabin is protected by a heavy armor shield. This option retracts the shield piston, protecting the cockpit.
5. Toggle Lights
- Lights are positioned at the front of the rocket chambers to assist in vision and aim. Cannot be done with "L" as they are part of a seperate portion of the unit.
6. Switch Lock of Feet Gear (Left)
7. On/Off Toggle of Feet Gear (Left)
8. Switch Lock of Feet Gear (Right)
9. On/Off Toggle Feet Gear (Right)
