Optimized National Wonder Scaling

Description
This mod alters the cost and prerequisites required for building a national wonder. This makes national wonders much more accessible for both small and large empires (especially large) if you only invest the extra time into constructing them and don’t expand too rapidly.

Early in the game, expansion can become stunted while your settlers are waiting around tapping their feet for you to construct all the natural wonders you desire. Later in the game, it can become difficult to construct a prerequisite in every single city controlled. Also, some national wonders, such as Heroic Epic and National Intelligence Agency, have prerequisites that you probably don’t really want to build in every single city and are more specialized. Also, later in the game, national wonder costs quickly become trivial once the prerequisites are met, which is very easily accomplished by smaller empires.

With this mod, you only need to build the prerequisite building in the city where you plan to build the national wonder. Though, the cost increases more rapidly. At one city, all national wonders cost as much as a building would within that era. But, with each new city you settle or annex, the cost increases by a percentage of the cost of wonders within the same era.

At the beginning of the game, once you hit the 4-city mark, the first national wonders will cost as much as a world wonder. For each city past that, your cost will increase by 50 (20% of 250).

As the game progresses, your empire will likely get larger due to claiming more territory as your happiness increases through new policies, religion, buildings, resource trading with new contacts, etc. (If it doesn’t, you save more in costs – though, not as much as the trivial costs in the default game.)

Because of this, and to help stabilize national wonder cost increases so that they don’t sky-rocket, the mark at which a national wonder equals a world wonder is stepped for each new era to soften the increase little by little.

Modders:

This mod may also be useful for your projects and ideas. With this, you can introduce more types of national wonders that may come later in the game and not worry about them ever being constructed and utilized.

Also, another perk is that you can even base new national wonders off of specialized buildings, since they don’t need to be constructed in every city! Example: the Ironworks could have the forge as a prerequisite instead of workshops. Or a new National Park with the Garden as a prerequisite. Another one could be some kind of famous harbor or seaport with the Harbor or Seaport as a prerequisite.

Enjoy! ; )

Sorry, DD, not yet... I've actually moved on to Beyond Earth and focusing on that right now -- I love it. After I release a few big projects for it, I may return to Civ 5 if I'm still interested in playing it. But, with the looks of the new expansion, Rising Tide, I don't see that as very likely. :(

Barathor, have you finished the new DLL MOD? because playing on giant map, cost is now like 2 or 3 times a world wonder per wonder :)

Hi, I saw one of my national wonders not working with your mods (maybe more than one i dont know) but it is normal because it is from another mod called "Wonders - Disney pack (Gods and Kings)" maybe you can check that with the author of that mod ? edit : I just saw there is the BWN version of that mod ill try it, maybe it was my problem...

Sweet! : )

I have another separate version I'll be releasing soon once I complete a few more projects associated with my new DLL mod.

The new one will keep things very simple and make the natural wonder rules similar to Civ 4. All national wonder costs will be a single unchanging value and will cost as much as wonders found in each of their eras.

Each national wonder will only require 4 of its prerequisite building built within your empire; it will never require more if you have more cities. Though, unlike Civ 4, if you have less than 4 cities in your empire, you can still build the national wonder as you'll only be required to build the prerequisite in all your cities (again, if you only have 4 or less cities).
