[AES] Torino Heavy Starfighter

In 1 collection by Guinevere
American Exploration Systems [AES]

Description

The AES Torino-class Heavy Starfighter was created as a larger, tougher alternative to the powerful but skimpily armored Shock Starfighter. Featuring twice the firepower of its smaller cousin, full battery power and well-protected engine nacelles, the Torino has quickly become a common sight in the large hangars of AES' carriers.

same principle, although sometimes i don't add enough gyros lol. instead of just using a bunch of heavy armor, i usually design the armor so that it shelters the important parts, and makes it harder for damage to spread. there's nothing really wrong with heavy armor, but using it in full makes ships fly like bricks.

yeah I think I fly them wrong but your bigger ships also don't have heavy armor and I think big ships should have armor shouldn't they?

Actually, most combat ships you'll find on the workshop use light armor or a combination of both. Full heavy armor typically results in a ship that can barely move, or requires far too much thrust/power to retain its maneuverability. I typically favor light armor to keep my designs agile, and usually use layered armor in place of heavy. In this case, "heavy starfighter" doesn't refer to the type of armor, it refers to the ship dimply being larger and having more mass, firepower and better armor coverage that its smaller counterparts.

My ships aren't armor tanks, they focus on high maneuverability and damage. if you find them ineffective in combat, you may be flying them wrong.

your Ships look all pretty cool but it seems like they are not very practical because all of them are made of light armour. When i hear the name heavy starfighter I think it's a starfighter withg heavy armour and not a fighter with light armour. I'd really likie to use your ships in combat, but sadly they have to weak armour.
