A realistic solar farm today is about 1MW for every 6 acres. You can do a 2MW on 10 acres. Mose projects we've been seeing have been in the 2MW-5MW range. Though, larger projects are coming online. I was recently involved in a project that proposed a ~200MW facility on ~1,100 acres.

@KamikazeFly: The world's largest solar farm is a lot bigger nowadays than at the time of your post. Google the "Benban Solar Park". You'll find a project producing 1,65 GW that's gone online in the second quarter of this year, built upon 37 km2. And there are more huge plants like this coming online soon or within a year, all over the world.

@ KamikaziFly Panels of 1 m² generate 1KWp at this Time so your Calulation is real old.
But you are right , if a few pieces generate MW.

@KamikaziFly as a fellow energy worker I'm super glad to find someone else interested in realistic power numbers, maybe you could make this asset work like that?

Also... It would seem that it would take 1 electrician (well educated) and their apprentice (educated) to install this, but maybe 1 uneducated person to maintain the bird feeders and water stores. Where it may take one well educated or highly educated worker to design one system, their job is finished at the design level.

On a side note: The solar field in spain planted 5 square kilometers of trees for their 1 square kilometer (100 hectares) of solar fields.

The wind turbines in game are set to about the correct MW per week for real wind turbines.

My suggestion to you is to create another solar field set to these much lower figures which can only run at day (sunny days), then place a note on this entry that these solar panel fields are producing 1000x more electricty than possible given specs for other in-game electrical sources so that players will understand.

Your 9x9 panel grid should provide 20250 watts, or 20 kW. (9x9=81.) (81x250=20250)

Seems kind of over powered to be able to generate so much electricity from such a small footprint. In real life a house's entire roof top seems enough to sustain 1 person. In game, my houses seem to have 5-6 whole families.
Although, I do like that it is 8x8 in size.

Some quick quotes from a google search.
1. "As an example, if you install 20 panels producing 250 watts, you may have an output of about 5 kilowatts (kW)." [*250 watts each]. (250w * 20 = 5kW.) 5kW * 200 = 1000kW or 1 MW.
2. "that's 164 homes per MW" - 164 homes can be powered with 1 Mega Watt.

I love this, it's cheap and it makes a lot of energy so I can cheaply make sustainable energy. Thumbs up :D
