Universewide Food Crisis

I'm no longer updating my Starbound mods, so they might not work as intended. Feel free to update and upload any of my Starbound mods.


The only hunger mods I saw were those that made keeping a full belly easier, so I made this.

I recommend making a new character for this mod so you can get the full starving experience.

This mod severely reduces the amount of food you receive during gameplay, making hunger an actual threat.

The chance of getting food from crops is reduced to 5%.
The chance of getting meat when hunting is reduced to 10%.
Merchants no longer sell food because of how rare it is.
Infinity Express and vending machines still sell food, but at very high prices.
Some ingredients are unobtainable (Alien Fruit, Cactus). May fix later. Alien Fruit and Cactus are obtainable again. Very low chance of getting them though.
"I'll just kill myself and have a full hunger bar ag-" NOPE, you start with 25%!
Food should rot twice as fast. Shouldn't be too big of a problem - you'll probably be eating most of your food pretty quickly.
Some more stuff probably, but I already forgot.
Anyway, food is rare, you'll probably be hungry, cook your food, good luck.

Also, if you find a stupid good source of food, let me know, maybe I overlooked something.

In the vanilla game, you have no threat of starvation and no reason to set up a farm, you can buy food from every other merchant. My food tab is usually overflowing with food when I have a small farm set up.

Recommended mods:
Compact Crops because you're gonna have to make huge farms to get anything with that 5% drop rate.
No Heal and Fooditem drop so you can keep your hard-earned food when you die. Also so you don't starve to death when trying to get your stuff back.

This mod should be completely safe to install and uninstall without problems.
