Aquatic!

By the time you're reading this I will be in North-Korea so if you leave a reply I sadly enough won't be able to answer because I obviously won't have acces to the internet or the outside world for that matter. When I'm back, which should be by the 22nd of August I will be able to reply to your comment if you leave one!

"But Hollandje, how are you publishing these finishes if you have no internet?"

I have preuploaded them, hence the upload date showing 6th of August. My little brother is finalizing the submissions for me :)

This is the second colour variety of my cracked surface pattern. This time I went with a nice blue colour which I think looks pretty neat on the weapons. :)

Work Progress

This idea is a spinoff of the initial inspiration I got for a pattern. I was thinking of a stone mythical circle but after some initial testing it turned out to be not what I was hoping for and I scratched the idea. I did however run a few tests and a stone like texture looked pretty nice on a weapon. I decided to start and built a cracked surface in Substance Designer and after a little while this concept came to live. A cracked surface with (in this version) something like glowing ice coming through to the surface, causing a nice glowing sensation. I wanted to play around with the possibilties of the Normal map and decided to use a generic stone material I had made for one of the materials in de_Studio.

Randomization of normal maps is thus far not supported in the workbench so it couldn't be too specific with cracks. The basic stone material gives quite a good material definition which gives this that extra bit of flair. Only downside is that the weapon finish style became Patina, since that is the only reasonable looking pattern finish that supports normal maps. Anodized multicoloured would've been possible but I really wanted to use the normal map. The thing I like the most about this pattern is that certain paint seeds will display a lot cracks and glow while some others are really bland. This makes some paint seeds more desirable than the other :) My personal favorite weapons this pattern is featured on are the AUG and MP9 :D

Wear Progress

The wear progress is nothing fancy, it literally turns darker and that's it.

Last Words

Thanks for checking out the pattern, I sincerely appreciate it. Upon my return on the 22nd of August I will probably be working a lot on de_Studio since the deadline for the mapcore competition is at the end of October. I want to make sure this map turns out perfect and therefore will divide a lot of my time to that. I hope to push out at least a few skins untill october but I'm not sure whether or not I'm able to.

Anyways, I wish you a wonderful day and thank you for reading :)

Cya!
