Microbot Arena

Trying to bring some playable content to SE, I’ve assembled this robust semi-automated arena that you can use to duel your friends. Actually it supports up to four players, providing each with a workshop where you can experiment and assemble your death robots.

But it's got everything you need to start mini battles right away. Each workshop has a robot chassis that you can detach and use. These robots are basic, but at least they have the handling sorted out, and an auto-unflip mode (just press 5). You can add weapons, armor and equipment to customize them. This is a challenge of practical engineering.

Rules: Make up your own rules, but the goal is to immobilize or destroy your opponents by throwing them off the battlefield or into one of many automated hazards such as the crushing press or the flaming pit. I suggest that you avoid adding the gatling guns, landing gears, explosives and such to your robot-builds, as the match will last longer. Size limitation: anything that you can fit on the elevator in the workshop is fine.

This is a fully functional version, but please consider it only a first step. With some help of the community we can develop the arena and robots, and over time turn this into a SE sport.

Normally I avoid using pistons and rotors, but I’ve used some in this build for elevators and such. I’ve spent a lot of time testing and calibrating it – I hope you will appreciate the effort.

This arena is something the space engineers of Mars have come up with. With the planet populated by bored miners and a bunch of rusty robots, something like this was bound to happen sooner or later.
