True Dead

Description
No bots, No specials, No random huge hordes.
They are slower. But gun fires attract them. And melees have durability.

(THIS IS A MUTATION, IT DOESN'T CHANGE YOUR MAIN GAME)

- Gun shots will attract surrounding zombies.
- Melee weapon durability and break system. (There is a HUD for it)
- "Fight for your life" system. (Self revive by killing 5 zombies.)
- You can crawl when you are incapacitated.
- Third Person Camera System.
- Item drop system.
- Only common infected.
- Zombies are slower and can't see well but they are stronger.
- Zombie hits don't make you stop completely in place anymore.
- Highly reduced Non-Headshot Hits; (Not headshot only, but close)
- No survivor bot.
- Friendly-fire Increased.
- Third Person shotgun sounds fixed.
- Guns have a little more realistic recoil now.
- Lost cries of Characters during solo play removed.
- There is no Tank anymore. (scripted tanks can be seen for a second at spawn don't worry)
- Realism version is included. (Head popping pistol headshots are much more satisfying)

You can start True Dead in mutation menu or from console by command if you can't find there.
command line example: "map c1m1_hotel truedead" / "map c1m1_hotel truedeadrealism"

I didnt block Multiplayer but there are bugs in Multiplayer. Consider it as a Singleplayer mod.

___ New Zombie AI ______________________________________

In TrueDead, zombies don't have elven eyes. You can pass by them as long as you don't get too close or run. You can crouch-sneak on their back and bash to their nape to execute them as long as they don't see you. (They have a few seconds respond time, if they see you from a distance, you can silently walk away.)

However, they don't tolerate noises. They will hear you if you run close or break thing.
But especially, They will hear your gun shots. When you fire a non-silenced weapon,
all zombies that can hear it, will attack you. So be careful, don't shot if you don't want a fight.
(You will see a warning when you shot the first time. On Easy difficulty they won't hear your shots)

This adds a mechanic just like movies and TV series like "The Walking Dead".
You can use the noises to gather and burn the large numbers.

If you want to play stealth, You will need a melee weapon. They are powerful.


___ Melee Weapon Durability and Lower damages ______________

In TrueDead, melee weapons are vital. But they have durability.
Each melee weapon have a different durability value.
For example, Blades have less durability but you can cut the legs to incapacitate zombies.

You can watch your weapon's durability by a small percentage HUD.
When you deal more damage your weapon will receive more damage too.
(You will deal more damage when you swing your weapon closer to your target.)
And, attacking gathered groups (like safe-room doors) will be harmfull for the weapon.

Also, melee weapons now don't kill with one hit. So, you need to aim to the head.
This will kill them in one hit and harm your weapon lesser.


___ "Fight for your life!" ____________________________________

You can revive yourself by kill 5 zombies when you are incapacitated.
Pistol is not effective in mob attacks but you can shoot some gas tanks or fuel cans.
If you time it you can use a pipe bomb or a molotov too.

But don't forget that you can be revived only for once without using a medkit.
So when you revive yourself, bash your way out and run.


___ Included Third Person Camera __________________________

True Dead has a Third Person Camera System. (with proper sniper zooming)
You can switch between three modes.
- First Person
- Third-person Shoulder Camera (like Resident-Evil)
- Third-person Far Camera (Like GTA-V or MMORPGs)

chat !v (or press V) to TPS view.
(if it is your first run with this mutation. This might be usable only after you walk a little.)

chat !aimdot to activate accurate Third person aim dot. It is like a laser pointer.
(Unlike Third person crosshair, it is always accurate. But causes low performance,
It is more like a proof of concept than an actual feature.)


___ Weapon Item Drop ___________________________________

True Dead has a Weapon / Item dropping system as in the CounterStrike.
press G (chat !g) to drop items, except your last single pistol.
- since L4D2 doesn't have this drop system they made most primary weapon spawns as the weapon will return its first place when you drop. But can you drop your items for your friends now.

I tried to measure how many bullets needed to kill a zombie by body shots;
(In realism each one uses the setting of one level higher),

Easy: 25% // 4 hit with ak47 - 6 hit with pistol
Normal: 10% // 9 hit with ak47 - about 1 full of pistol
Hard: 5% // 18 hit with ak47 - about 2 full of pistol
Expert: 2%. // 36 hit with ak47 - about 4 full of pistol

Tips: Because of Shotguns have knockback and 5 times damage in close range. They are really effective. Also, Snipers, explosives and incendiary ammo kill in one hit without a headshot.
(That is why snipers have less ammo now. Also, there is no Magnum, because it was overpowered with one-shot kills without headshot and has unlimited ammo.)
If you find a chance, You can also bash their nape for an easy kill. 3-4 times bashing to the face kill them too.

Friendly-fire Damage factor:
Easy: 10%, Normal: 25%, Hard: 50%, Expert: 100%.

Speaking of ammo, in True Dead you are not a walking ammo bag. Max ammo amounts reduced to more logical numbers. This makes your pistol more valuable. (Don't worry, I tested all the campaigns and they easily have enough ammo to reach next weapon or ammo pile spawn.)


___ Technical Things _____________________________________

- L4D2 has a face hitboxes problem. Some times you shot a zombie in the face but it doesn't count as a head shot. This happens generally with pistols, (I fixed it on melee). So you can think as if you need to damage the brain stem, and pistol bullets not powerful enough to pierce the whole skull. But you won't fail when you shoot to forehead.

- For some technical reasons Valve made hitboxes and animations almost asynchronous too. I get that is performance efficient. But some times pistol headshots can be imposible without debug-showing hixboxes (Like when they attack incapacitated survivor...). It is really sad, but I don't tink I can do anythink to fix it.

- In first person view, there is kind of a crawling animation. But there is no third person crawling animation. I can't make it happen. But players crawl really slowly, so it doesn't look so bad.

- In realism "Head damage always pops heads". I could include this normal mode as well but I believe pistol bullets shouldn't be that powerful. Thus, You should have an option to chose. In solo and without specials Realism mode isn't that different anyway. (I am planning some differences.)

(It is an awesome mutation too. It is survival like with food and water needs. You should try it.)

Cool at first, but zombies spawning behind me "subtly" got old fast, and the constant need to back track when fighting off a horde alone was kind of bleh for a solo run, sure I could cheese with melee in theory, but I just don't enjoy using only melee.

also please make it to where it doesn't force change your game binds to cooperate with the mutation. i think it'd be better for us to be able to assign a button to the extra actions before we begin to play. the preset binds messed up my vocalizer binds :(
