One of my favorite games, Inscryption is beautifully crafted with lore behind every card. It is not for the faint of heart, as it deals with eerie atmospheres, animal sacrifice (“sacrificing” one or more cards for another), and self-sacrifice (ex. take out a tooth to gain a score advantage - nothing is shown but the (non-gorey) end product). I find it annoying, though, that after the first act an “F” word can be heard pretty much randomly, I would recommend turning the game sound effects off to avoid this. A lot of people tend to complain about the second act because it suddenly turns into pixel-art style, but note that this act is just to establish lore and the third act is similar in graphics and gameplay to the first act, but more interesting in my opinion. And when you complete the game, you can complete “runs” of the first act with different cards and challenges, unlocking them as you go. People ages 13-14+ who love creepy atmospheres and/or card battlers will have a lot of fun with this game!

This is by far one of my favorite games of all time. Expect to die, but then to iterate - try, try again, getting better with every cycle. The AIs of the creatures are beautifully made. Predators don’t spawn when you enter the room - they were already there; they choose where to go, choose if they should go after you, and base their actions on how you’ve treated them in the past. Each creature has its own personality that influences their actions. Lizards may choose to fight an intruder rather than go after you. There is a reputation system with most creatures, and this is especially apparent with the scavengers, who can be your greatest ally…or a dangerous foe. This game is a living ecosystem, where you are not the hero of this world - you are simply a visitor.
The art is beautiful, and although it may seem like a simple survival game at first, there is deep, enriching lore and a beautiful ending (which made me cry when I first completed the game). Regardless, I would only recommend this game if you are patient enough to accept many losses for each success.

Early Access Review
The graphics (especially the people) are stiff and not great to look at, in my opinion. A lot of people are saying this game is very good, but for me a “fatal error” message constantly comes up and kicks me out of the game, especially when I tried co-op with my family. Even after messing with settings, the fps was low and the message kept appearing.
Another note, the game says it has violence and “general mature content”. As someone who tries to keep their games as clean as possible, I could not, regardless of all my online searching, find what that “mature content” was. It would be great if the developers could be more specific, especially since sites like Common Sense Media (age-based content reviews) don’t have the game listed right now.
