"Every decision matters, even the smallest and most trivial ones"

In a nutshell, the best narrative game if you consider all the aspects. With a very intriguing, touching story and lovable multi-dimensional characters, Detroit: Become Human will take you to a diverging path in which you have to decide which direction to go. Every choice matters. Every choice has consequences, even the smallest and most trivial ones. This game outclasses many others with a similar setting or gameplay since there are so many possible outcomes (around 40) enhancing its replayability.

Plot

Detroit: Become Human is a story about future where humans live side by side with androids, machines developed to serve them in different tasks. They are not seen as anything else than pieces of plastic. Those who rebel against their masters are called deviants - androids that consider themselves living beings.

The main trio is well-constructed and though-out: Connor, a detective android investigating crimes committed by deviants, Kara, a deviant who wants to be a mother, and Markus, another deviant in pursuit of changing the world for the better. They encounter great dangers along the way, and it's up to you to decide how their story ends. Will the androids be able to live in freedom and be equal with their creators? Or are they all going to die?

In the beginning, I knew nothing about this game, and little by little, it sucked me in. It's a heart-warming masterpiece that will make you laugh until your belly hurts, scream both in panic and anger, and cry your eyes out. Definitely a sign of a good story.

Gameplay

The game feels more like an interactive movie whose storyline is affected by the dialogue choices of the player, characters' relationship development, the paths unlocked, and the success in quick time events resulting in certain outcomes. All of this is presented in the Flowchart at the end of each chapter. Unlike it may seem, the game isn't that slow-paced since it can pump your adrenaline even to the point of hyperventilating (if you decide not to undo the past if you screw up and care about the characters).

There are two difficulty levels in the game: casual that lets you focus on the story and is forgiving or experienced that offers more challenge (like one mistake and you're dead). I suggest you start with the easier level at first.

As a newcomer to this kind of gaming culture, controls feel a bit sloppy to me and I still haven't got used to them. The character bumps into walls and objects even though I press the right buttons, and the camera moves around weirdly.

This game mostly consists of cutscenes so the player has fairly little control over the character compared to other games. And sometimes, the options given are rather ambiguous, which can increase the risk of making the wrong choice. These are not big problems, though.

Verdict

I give credit to the company for doing such a great job on this one, they deserve every single dollar. What a shame I bought this on sale! This one gave me a lot of food for thought and I wondered if the choices I made tell something about me as a human being. So please, give this one a try. You won't regret it.
