The devs did a fantastic job of making a top-down rougelike that put more AAA titles to shame. Get it

I never played any card games before this and i am glad that i did as the premise alone got me hooked. The mystery of the game and the trial-and-error style gameplay absolutely feels unique in its own right, and i am glad to give this a chance to play. Another detail is that this game is deceptively deep in the fact that there are many avenues to achieve ascension or a victory in a different way. Becoming well-versed in the games mechanics is key to quickly build knowledge so that you can master the occult arts and open up that many more ways of advancing through the game.

Also you will be spending equal to if not more time reading the wiki when you have zero idea what to do next.

As someone who enjoyed all the dlcs, some more than others. This dlc in particular can be polarizing with the academy now being a separate faction acting on their own, but the prospect of the abilities offered can add a fresh change up of the game. the new race is ok**. The Nakalim feel like an early game bully faction that starts off strong with tech, but are handicapped for the rest of the game in science until you've gathered enough relics. God forbid you go up against the soprons who will eventually dust you in science and can easily overtake you, the Nakalim falls flat later in the game. This dlc was patched and fixed so the academy isnt so aggressive now, and just adds more to adapting to the situation (which is good), and if nothing else, just turn off the content or mod it. The devs did what they could to remedy the situation and i believe they did fix the more obvious problems, so id give it a chance on a STEEP discount. this is so far below the asking price

Would i recommend this game? absolutely

Would i recommend on sitting on this for a while? yes

Underneath the rubble of bugs and glitches (both visual and game breaking), There is a compelling story and with excellent dialogue that i think rivals even the likes of Vampire: the masqurade bloodlines. The facial animations are on point with what is being said and do well enough to convey the emotion of the moment. only gripe i have and this could be due to the launch nature of this title, is the gunplay. its "serviceable" at best, which is unfortunate. though it does offer somewhat styles of class variation but if you are into more stealthy takedowns, forget it. the stealth systems works 50% of the time and melee weapon takedowns is asking for trouble. If it isnt an instant kill, your stealth approach is blown. instant detection by all with no real alarm system. The animations of executions are cool but very limited as theres only one animation for each type of melee type. Hacking is fun thankfully... when it works. the times it does, really shows how the game can truly shine in more than one way but sadly, when running multiple daemons at once at the same time will cause some of them to just outright not work.

overall, great early access title and glad to have gotten a taste of it but give it time. Past January when the devs actually finish development.

More realistic than any other shooter on the market, the gunplay is excellent, just needs more weapons in its lists. The game modes are pretty great in PVP and PVE, the game play is a mix of slower movement and being on your toes for the engagements that burst out quickly. The only gripe i may have with this is the customization which can be a little bland, but this is for immersion and realism factor so dont go in expecting much in that regard. but it does hit the mark on those two points: realism and immersion.

Until you get a bunch of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that spam cringe through their mics and kill the mood.

More of the same from the first bioshock but more expanded on. worth playing as the story was more consistent than infinite's multiverse and time-jumping mechanics, gun play is great as well as the plasmids. The ability to change how you play is another point worth mentioning: Being able to be a total trap-maker right down to going toes with everyone with the drill specialists and having unlimited drill and plasmid power. minerva's den was a wonderful little DLC and protectors trials is just an arcade to test how verse you are with the game.

My game had plenty of bugs and weird animations that occured during some sequences and when abilities were activated. It is a unique XCOM game that had a cool concept, although i could have seen this as a full-fledge DLC for XCOM 2 as this whole game felt like a fanmade mod for how messy some the game was. There were plenty of crashes for when the game goes on for too long.

The story isnt being portrayed as it normally is as you being the commander but listening to what different variations of your squad and how they communicate and at times, the dialouge just borderline cringe. sadly though, there was one particular squad style that just felt far more needed than everyone else and just made using other chracters rather useless which sucks as i would have loved to have the others come along but being stuck to a squad of 4, kind of makes switching tactics up that much harder.

Overall, the 6.5/10 really, worth the 10$ i spent and think this should have just been a DLC for XCOM 2 rather than a stand alone

An amazing turn-based strategy that should be in your library if you are into strategy games that will have you at the edge of your seat with heated moments, that are followed with triumph or heart-breaking defeat. a game to sink your teeth into for months along with great mod support for even more along with mods to tweak difficulty, enemies, etc.
