Second best game in the series imo. Puts the horror front and center and does not pull any punches in that regard. Very well executed. The only downside is this is the game responsible for making the story a gigantic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mess that nobody sane actually cares about anymore. Seriously do not bother with the story past 3, pretend this is still 2015 and this game is just a fun little non cannon spin off (and do the same for the rest of these games going forward.) The gameplay in most of the later games after this one is fantastic still, but do not bother if you are invested in the story.

Refugium has finally shown what the government won't!!! This game has truly opened my eyes to this space invadered world. THe ALMAOS are coming for us all!! I will now watch all seasons of Ancient Aliens for 5 years straight to perfect my knowledge on ALMAOS to prepare for the coming ceremony. 10/10.

Great story and characters. Not really much else that can be said that hasn't already been said by others. Don't really see myself coming back to it after completing it fully, but I'm excited to play the other games in the series.

Dead Space is a 2023 remake of the 2008 game by the same name. You play as Isaac Clark, who is with a team on a mission to repair a planet cracker class space vessel, the USG Ishimura. When you arrive on the vessel, you are separated from your team as you are all attacked by alien creatures that appear to be reanimated and mutated corpses. It's up to you as Isaac to keep yourself and your team alive as you try to figure out what went wrong on the Ishimura, the colony planet side, and what exactly happened to your girlfriend, Nicole, who was stationed on the Ishimura prior to the outbreak. The remake mostly plays the same as the original with quality of life features that have either been made for it, or features backported from Dead Space 2 and 3, as well as new side content and story enhancements giving more backstory to some of the characters or further explaining certain events. This is ultimately a very faithful remake, and I personally recommend it to anyone. Whether you are a newcomer or a longtime fan, you're in for a treat... Assuming you can handle the mere existence of all gender bathrooms. P.S. The system requirements for this game are astronomically overblown. you don't even need to meet the 8 gig VRAM requirement to run it at high or ultra settings, just patch it to run in Vulkan and turn on texture filtering in the config, and make sure it's on an SSD, it'll run fine. Don't put it on an HDD or you're not gonna have a fun time.

Dead Space is an action horror game that released during a time where horror games were far and few between, and it was pretty damn good then and still is now. One of the few games that was actually effective in making me feel uncomfortable throughout the entire experience while actually genuinely frightening me sometimes during my first time playing. Of course, how effective this game will be depends entirely on the person and also how many times you've played it before, but I can say that if stuff like Alien and The Thing get to you, this gave will make you have a lingering sense of dread unlike any you've experienced before during your time on the USG Ishimura. On the other spectrum, if you're a massive fan of those properties like me, or just cosmic horror in general, this game is going to make you cream yourself multiple times consecutively. There is a remake releasing later this month (Jan 27,) but it's goal seems to be similar to the Resident Evil remakes where it's meant to be a re-imagining to expand on the original story and go in-line with retcons from later released media, so I'd say this is still worth playing. Just be prepared to do some minor troubleshooting and light modding to fix some issues with the game, as the PC port is pretty busted out of the box unfortunately.

Unironically had fun playing this. It's basically trying to be an Alan Wake style game but fails miserably. It's fun but by no means a good game. Get it on sale while you still can if you plan to partake in Cr1tikal's challenge, I wouldn't personally recommend it for any reasons other than the challenge.

My internet cut out because of a storm and I look up and see that I am surrounded by the lifeless bodies of my friends like some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ancient aliens ritual just happened. Truly one of the games of all time.
