I enjoyed the game, and would have very much liked to keep playing, but unfortunately I keep experiencing crashes upon reaching the cave boss. Tried asking around the forums but no answers after nearly a week. I understand no PC game is perfect when it comes to performance, but I expect a finished game to at least be playable. Sorry, but am refunding.

Chants of Senaar is very cool, but playing as intended just lets you brute-force everything, and the object of the game becomes nothing more than collecting all the symbols and putting them in the right places. Once you have finished this little collect-a-thon, the puzzles are laughably easy, and you feel like you are just going through the motions, because all the work has been done for you.

Playing without validating lets you actually feel like you are learning a language, and makes solving puzzles much more satisfying.

I have no idea why the dev is so against people playing this way. Which do you think is more fun, a simple matching game, or a surprisingly deep language-learning game?

Have a bit more faith in your players, please!

Also, the stealth sections aren't nearly as bad as some people make it out to be.

All things considered I still think it's a very good game, but your mileage may vary.

It's a good game, actually; Killer Frequency is that rare adventure game with some substantial gameplay beyond clicking on everything and manipulating physics objects for funsies. The puzzles aren't all winners - I'm looking at you, hedge maze from hell - and some of the pixel / polygon hunting can be a bit annoying when there is a disconnect between the player character saying "I've found something!" and the actual player in front of the computer / console, who likely has not, in fact, found said item yet (because it's on the other side of the room from where the dialogue was prompted).

The memory puzzles would have benefited from a way to take notes in-game or some sort of chat log, otherwise you are left with no choice but accepting a fail state or save scumming. On the other hand, solving the puzzles and exploring the station is mostly satisfying. The presentation is fantastic, and the story and dialogue has a lot of heart without taking itself too seriously. You really feel like a radio DJ stuck in an 80s slasher flick- one of the better ones with a sense of humor. My first run took me about 6 hours, and it seems like there is enough fun to be be had for multiple playthroughs.

Overall, it's just a really solid game, whether you like it for the cheesy horror trappings or are a fan of adventure games and / or walking sims . Recommended!

I bought this at the same time as Library of Ruina; to be honest I was much more interested in that game, but when I heard that they were connected curiousity won out and I grabbed this as well. Good thing too, because Lobotomy Corp is way better!

They share a few quirks in common: they are both punishingly difficult with bad UI, and other weird design choices, but where they differ is that Lobotomy Corp is actually fun! Even when some magical heart monster broke out of containment and started massacring everyone, and my employees stopped listening to me in order to hang out with the friendly plague doctor, and everyone in my company was having an overall very bad time, I was still having a good one!

Yes, it is possible to be screwed over and put in basically unwinnable situations at first, but you learn as you go. I'm not even halfway through the game yet, but I'm getting a little closer every time! The story is also much more focused here, so I actually care to see what happens next. I'd recommend giving it a try, just know what you're getting into. (or don't, that could be exciting as well!)

Also, I heard this game had memory leaks, so I wrapped my entire laptop in masking tape ahead of time, and I don't see anything leaking out yet. Except for those weird butterflies, that is....

So, I don't play too many dice / deckbuilding games, but I was intrigued by this game's world and story.

Big mistake! The UI and design of this game is so wonky and needlessly obscure, that people who are new to this type of game really have no chance of understanding what the hell is going on. The in game-tutorial just loads more and more rules on you right away, and the manual persists with the dumb in-game terminology rather than actually try to acclimate the player.

And as for the story itself? Also needlessly obscure, and quite frankly a little boring. The VN presentation is really static (even compared to most VNs!), so you're probably gonna end up eventually skipping through it to just get to the game.

And as for the gameplay? Not all that rewarding at the end of the day. This is the reason why I am continuing with Lobotomy Corporation (which I purchased at the same time) and refunding this one. The difference between the two is that Lobotomy Corp, despite also having questionable design decisions and punishing difficulty, is still fun at the end of the day. Meaning, I am having some degree of fun even if I fail a mission. Whereas here, I'm not really enjoying myself even when I succeed. Oh well.

It's not a completely perfect port: the controls are a little wonky compared to the Playstation version, and there are sometimes framerate issues when you go to the background of a screen from the foreground. There is a workaround for the issues with the FMV, though to be honest I've seen all these videos so many times I basically have them memorized anyway. Audio glitches can usually be fixed by pressing esc then returning to the game. These are all small problems at the end of the day however, Oddworld remains an all-time great platformer, and at this price you really can't go wrong!

Endless Sky is a neat free space game with an absolutely awful learning curve. Most of your first hour or so of the game will be spent being confused, trying to play the awful tutorial, running into something the tutorial doesn't explain, and repeatedly searching the forums for help instead. The keyboard controls are also similarly awful and unwieldy, and will have you longing for something like how it was done in Star Control 2. Do you need to do anything time sensitive? Well, I hope you remembered each and every shortcut, otherwise those pirates will disable your ship, son. Do you remember how to talk to other ships so they can tow you to the nearest starbase once the pirates disable your engine? If not, enjoy quitting out to ask the forum dwellers which button you should have pressed!

Once the tutorial "ends" you are sort of left with nothing to do but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about. Apparently, if you ♥♥♥♥ about long enough, a story happens! I have not found this story yet; I hope it is a good one.

Despite all the very frustrating aspects of how this weird game was designed, there is no need for me to ask for a refund...because it's free! May as well come back to it from time to time. I suppose Endless Sky is an interesting game at least, and is almost fun in short bursts.

Years before he would begin his career as a very successful and very boring pop star, Michael Bubble starred in the equally French video game Bubble Ghost. While the family-friendly crooner is safe in death, the bubble he is in charge of chaperoning is vulnerable to even the smallest touch!

The version available on steam is a DOS port of the Atari ST original, and like most emulated DOS games plays just fine. If you originally played Buble Ghost on game boy like I did, you will probably notice the difference in bubble physics: as the bubble doesn't really pick up much momentum, slight movements are a little easier, but the keyboard controls means that it is much more difficult to manipulate a moving buble on the fly. The game boy soundtrack, while only featuring one or two songs repeating forever, is still sorely missed in this largely silent version of the game.

All in all, I'm very glad this classic puzzler is available on Steam, and especially with how heavily discounted it is during steam sales you really can't go wrong with this one.
