Dedicated to the memory of my Friend and Teammmate BENKEI
Nioh 2 is a prequel to a critically acclaimed Nioh game. The story takes place in the end of Sengoku period. There are internal struggles between Yokai and fractions of the factions of Japan.
Take a role of the protagonist who is half human and half Yokai and make your destiny come true. The long journey will be full of suprises and many things will unfold before your eyes. There will be friend there will be enemies but you always have to believe in greater good. Alongside you meet such a memorable and colorful charcters like Tokichiro, Hachisuka Koroky, Hatori Hanso, Minamoto no Yorimitsu and of course my favorite of all Benkei. These are only few of them who stucked into good memories. The story is interesting and its delivery very well made.
You travel over many beautiful and harsh environment. Every landscape feels different and fresh. Developers overdone themselves when introduces more pallet of different things you see and encounter here. Every level feels unique and interesting to explore. Rainforests, burning cities, bleak mountains and gorgeous castles and many more. Some details can’t be overlooked cause there are so realistic.
Yokai the society of dead spirits. These spirits could be evil or bad. They take a form of many animals and dwell somewhere between living and dead world. Its up to to uncover and make them join you. But there are also demonic Yokais that you fight them. You have to resist the darkness and send them back. You will see so many of them. Each one of them are super unique with their design and with their combat moves. You have to learn to dance with them if you don’t you will die pretty fast. And of course there are many encounters that made this game more brilliant then is ever been. The bosses of this game are superby made. Every of them posses a challenge for you. Ones are easier than others but don’t be fooled cause one wrong step and you die. Magetsu warrior, Flying bold, Enenra, Kasha, Kamai Tachi, Yasha, Tsuchigumo and much more. Every skill, every move they make is brand new fresh combat encounter.
The shining star of this game is combat and loot mechanic. Koei Techmo took some inspiration from many genres and made it with more spices combined. Combat is very deep and satisfying. You can use many variety of weapons once more like previous title. To make the best of samurai from yourself you have to master them all. Odachi, tonfa, axes, kusarigama, splitstaff. Every weapon makes your experience slite differenrent from each another. Combat never feels dull and boring when you have to try it out so many tactics and gear. Low, medium, high stances invented more fluidity into this already deep system. To make it more fun there is also new burst counter mechanic with implemented guardian spirits with soul cores. It’s the layer on the layer of amazingly combined samurai art. And even if you feel defeated or stuck on something the game will want you to never give up and overcome yourself. For this part you can summon friend spirits who can help you on the way or if you want you cand sharpen your combat even more with red graves which is super fun to fight live players selfs. Fear not there are also cuddling Scampuss that you can pet (owo). The game will not end after you beat it once. It introduces clan battles, tori gates that you can play with other people together. New twilight missions, picture scroll missions and underworld hell itself. On top of that there are NG++++++
I want to say Thank You to all Nioh 2 players who helped me on the way to defeat some monster waves. Without them that would be impossible for me alone.
This is it this is the perfect game for me. Everythin I wanted and dreamed from Nioh 2 Koei Techmo gave it with much love. This game overcomes the first one and evolves into master class. 10/10
ps. Don’t leave Kodamas standing alone. Collect them all.
