A very interesting take on a 2D-platformer from the creators of Megaman Zero, Gunvolt, etc.

Positives include tight controls, replayability through its many endings, the track "Fifth Life Soulbeast" that plays through Kuon's Humanoid Form, and the entirety of the "Anima Revive" concept - which awards you bonus abilities that help shape Kuons' journey through the Soulplane. Inti has also packed so many extra little things in this game the average developer probably wouldn't - hidden dialogues, hidden endings, hidden death animations AND ways to defeat bosses... it's seriously criminal how this is not pointed out in other reviews.

Cons include some interesting design choices like not being able to turn off certain Anima Abilities - like 'Mayfly' which can cause some bosses fights to be extended beyond normal, a shaky beginning as you literally only die in one hit; although this can be viewed as nine since Kuon has nine "lives" essentially, and what platforming exists in the game was really only looked at through the lens of Feline Kuon - not Humanoid form.

Overall I will recommend that it's still worth a buy and at LEAST a playthrough or two. If you are on the fence try the demo before purchasing, something the negative reviewers should have done. I would love to see an Umbraclaw 2 that fleshes out more of the Soulplane, extends character backstories more, and even tackles the possible "what ifs?" of the hidden ending.

Also, I've even spent $150 on the Deluxe Switch version to get some cool extras - something I wish Inti could have done with the Steam version, but oh well.

Early Access-recension
I normally wait to review a game until I've had 3-4 hours of playtime so I can be accurate when giving reviews. However, after only 2 hours, I absolutely adore this game! It fulfills everything in my heart that I've been wanting from a modern shooter. I suck at the game, but it's the experience that wins me over. It is absolute CHAOS most of the time, and you find yourself with other team mates in a big firefight. It is legitimately the experience we have all wanted from battlefield but never got.

I will admit, I despise roboblox, so I primarily hate the game's character design - not the cartoon look - that's fine, it's only the robolox players. Yet, weirdly, the roblox player works! I don't know if it's a combination of Battlebit being simplified and not full of stupid lighting and graphic effects, but everything is clear as day! I have no problem looking for enemies when needed.

The one minor gripe I have is a lack of minimap. I'm directionally challenged and get lost a lot. Even when I bring up the big map, I find myself struggling to find where I'm at. If anything, I hope either the M map is improved more to make it obvious where we are, or we get an optional on-screen minimap.

Traditionally in games I play, I turn off the VOIP/voice chat, even in COD. but after watching some hilarious compilations on Youtube, then experiencing it myself, the devs did an AMAZING job with the proximity chat and after death mic. Some of the things you hear is a gold mine of hilarity.

All games will have their trolls, racists, etc, but in Battlebit's case, it seems like the community has come to a mutual understanding and agreement. This is a beautifully fun game that we all enjoy. Thus, we are having fun and don't rage, don't swear, don't be toxic, etc.

Again, this isn't 100%, there will always be those people, but for the most part, the community is very chill and is having legitimate fun. Not COD fun of "get rekt by a 12 year old noob", but a "We had a great fight, good job!" way or "dang that sniper hit a good shot!" Point is, the Battlebit community seems to be on a united front to help the game, not destroy it.

One final thing to note, hats off to the community who revive, provide health and give ammo! It's so nice not having to spam NEED HEALTH or NEED AMMO, the community WANTS to have that team play, and it's so beautiful.

I might die a lot, and might not be the best player, but I am loving every second of this game. I honestly never would have thought I'd enjoy a game like this. Hats off to the devs.

If you are having trouble at combat just find a mace and bonk everyone on the head.
