Not sure why but I just can not get into this game. It is a great game, super polished / optimized and looks amazing. Personally I think my one issue is trying to remember all the buttons in the heat of battle, for most people that is not a problem at all, and I imagine once you get it down, the combat is magnificent. However, my brain does not work like that.

Personally I can not get into it for a specific reason (I am assuming that is the reason), but most people will not have this issue, so easy recommend and I hope you do not have a similar problem to me.

Love the music, the game feels nice. I love the faster attack speed, but why does the dash not have i-frames? Feels weird when every game i own that has a dash mechanic, has i-frames during a dash.

I like to play this while listening to a podcast, go into freeplay with an MX and perfect lines, its almost like meditation. Very satisfying.

Whoever did the sound design is incredible. The art style is colorful and beautiful, but not to the point that it is sickening. But really the sound design is amazing, the weapons and reload sounds are crisp and satisfying, there are some funny sounding creatures. I really like the ghost that follows you and lets out a wimpy "oooOOwoAAaaHhh" and his face is :o i like it. The game oozes style and is just a very neat chaos, a lot going on but it does not feel overwhelming. The quality and polish reminds me of a nintendo beach level, a certain charm to it with the music and colors. The whole time I am playing it I am just taken back by how well everything works together, I can not praise the sound design enough, it seals the deal in a charming and fun "wacky" package. Reminds me of atomicrops but actually balanced

There is an absurd amount of detail, I mean it is insane how a small team makes worlds more detailed than AAA game studios. I spent a ton of time just reading boxes and looking around, the physics are great, the bullets you fire do not despawn, the game looks amazing. The game is super well optimized too, very rarely had any issues running it with a 1060 3GB. The dev team is also incredible, you can tell how much love they have for this game and the community. The game does feel like it is missing something, I do not know what it is, maybe more fodder enemies or cheaper buildables? I am not sure, I know that doesn't help anyone. This game is a blast with friends or just other people in general, but unfortunately the game is not as popular as it should be. This is not the games fault, more people just need to know about it so that online matchmaking works. I am rambling

TL;DR Game is detailed, smooth, and pretty, the dev team is great and even full price is a steal for the enjoyment and content you get.

You know what the game is, a review won't persuade you. But I'll add comments anyway. If you can get past the atrocious fan base/community there is a good game here. Music is nice, characters are cool (except alphys and undyne. alphys is annoying and undyne is really forced). Some stuff didn't age too well, the temmie stuff is just cringy. Game is a classic and inspired many other great games. For RPG fans this game is a must.

TL;DR Community/fan base is a hive-mind with a collective IQ of 6, ignore it. Game is well made, some things did not age well, must play for RPG fans.

It is fun, but it is horrendously optimized, well, there is zero optimization. I have a RTX 3060 and can barely run it on medium settings. The audio is constantly glitching. Before I got the 3060, I had a 1060 3GB, it runs about the same, so unless this game only uses your CPU it is nearly unplayable.

The music is neat, gameplay isn't bad. But I feel it is misleading. "Beat invaders" I was expecting the music to affect the game in more than one way, all it does is change how fast the enemies move to the left, right, or down. That is it. They move to the beat, but other than that, there is no real effect on gameplay. I never noticed their fire rate going with the tempo, it just felt like later in the game they just shot more, not in any rhythmic style. For example, the game BPM is completely focused on using the music as a game mechanic, I would expect something similar when referencing music in the games name. Do not buy this looking for a rhythm shooter type of thing, it is more so a roguelite shoot em up with an EDM soundtrack.

It is a seriously beautiful game. The weapons feel nice and they sound great too.

My issue is the level design, I get so lost, am I an idiot? yes, but is this issue solely because I am an idiot? hopefully. I have been on the same level for months. I start it, play for a few and then "right, this is why I stopped" and quit to do the same thing next week. Some levels are fairly linear, but I swear I can go in a circle in this map and end up in 8 different locations.
