This review is made out my personal frustration, I might be overexaggerating.
This review is about the developers themselves and their treatment of the game, not the game itself.
Obviously there are worse developers than GSG but it is still awful since the game has a lot of die-hard fans who literally raised money for a board game adaptation within 14 minutes. You do not treat people like these this way, it is just wrong.

I played this game for a very long time now and I really love the game obviously, I really want to leave a positive review but I just cannot. Devs decided to focus all the work on a spin-off noone had asked for that is going to be an fps version of risk of rain 2, instead of continuing development of their literal golden egg duck.

My main issue is that the game has decided to go with a season system, despite not being spite when it comes to it. The whole system is lovely and very fun to grind, the problem is that these seasons last an entire YEAR. It does not even match the name.

To be honest I have a weird feeling in the end drg developers are just mastering stockholm syndrome and showing off.
Community is a literal cult (not the fault of devs quite frankly), they will stomp everyone who has slight criticism on the game or any suggestion that should have been in the game for it's own good, but is not. The discord server

Instead of hiring more developers for the game, they made their own publishing studio for Danish indie developers that will inevitibely fail (the games these indie developers made (not including DRG:S because it is a spin-off of this IP, that's why it was a success (spellrouge was not as much, proving my point))). On top of that they literally focus on ANYTHING but the developing updates for the game, 4 of them stream couple times a week (they have disabled donations quite frankly (the whole company has 44 employees)) of how they play deep rock galactic and some popular coop games.

Devs had decided to release the game on multiple platforms on top of that so it is very hard to keep up with updates on all 4 of them.

People complain about lack of crossplay but I actually understand why they won't. Considering sony charges for crossplay games, and a ton of issues that go against GSG's philosophy. As well as they want to release updates as fast as possible which is impossible thanks to consoles and the whole game is procedurally generated, it would be hard to do so.

The game is highly unbalanced between weapons and classes in a less fun way - there's practically 0 point in using 120 out of 160 overclocks in the game if you got all of them. Subata literally has no use, if you are going to play the game and want to get a promotion asap (in order to unlock overclocks assignment along with it), the very second assignment after the campaign one is unlocking a different secondary, it is that bad. The rest of guns are fine, but subata is a black sheep.
Scout as a class is highly flawed, most missions go the same way but easier and a tiny bit slower. He was originally intended as a support role but instead became a standalone speedrunning. Scout unlike other classes CANNOT make use of destructible enviroment besides mining (which every class can and even has to do) - the selling point of the game, since he has no explosive weaponry, no terrain deforming weaponry, no terrain manipulating movement tools etc. A lot of times scouts rely on enginner to place a platform, so unlike the rest, he is unable to do anything on his own. Besides, enginner can just place couple more platforms and do scout's job, driller can just drill to the spot and gunner has a zipline which can actually not be awful if mastered the e-jump-w technique (it normally goes at turtle's pace). Flare gun is a convinience at best, it removes one of the tag lines too. So yeah 1/4 classes barely fit in the game and are barely useful.

There are two armor sets (aka 90% of the whole loudout) released per year, one of them being a dlc exclusive. I would actually want to see an armor set in battle pass too.

The game does not give a reason to use other classes or weapons, it is possible to finish the season, get all the achievements etc. as only one class, the only bottle neck here is milestones. Obviously some people will find this as a positive thing, but I do not.

On top of that they do not want to add more than 69 achievements because haha funny reddit number. Literally 420 exists. That's not an excuse. In reality I think they have no idea how to make good achievements and just found a "good" excuse. To prove my point: they put a lot of random achievements as secret, which some people would have NO WAY of finding on their own (which is the whole point of secret achievements), look at some of the achievements that are in the game as an example too (not all of them of course): (you have google, look them up, this review is long enough) Without a paddle, I like it down here (each mission takes ~30 minutes), It's my party , both Foreign object in the launch bay and Time well spent (these should not be secret achievements, unlikely people would have patience to do it normally out of curiosity imo) and most importantly, creme de la creme of stupid achievements... CAR POOL. It is insanely buggy, the description is badly written and inaccurate and also it is VERY hard to get a full team to do it, especially since silk harvesters can go up walls.

The game is so repetitive it could be used to diagnose autism.

The only positive that I can find about DRG is the community that manages to keep this game well and alive. [/b]
It is also very fun on it's own, but mainly thanks to the community and the jokes amongst it. Co-op horde shooter and enviroment destruction is very fun combination, it allows for a lot. Most of them come from TF2 (same for me).

You, as a person reading reviews, probably will see a ton of comments like "We're rich", "Mushroom" or "ROCK AND STONE". Most of these are players with ~100-200 hours. They did not play enough to see all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that GSG had been doing for past years.

My opinion matters because I have 1000%'d the game: every cosmetic, every single one of them, all the frameworks, all of the milestones, every season done fully, every achievement. The only thing I can do right now is get more levels.

Fun fact: on ghost ship games' website, in publishing part, guntouchables redirect goes to spellrouge lol. On DRG website you can download wallpapers and for some reason they put art for mactera enemies and a silk harvester.

The game is fun, you, the reader, whom I thank a lot for reading this keyboard smash of a text, should try it out but these are the issues with developers themselves. You know it's bad when DRG MCR made by one guy actually has twice the content of the base game.

I am writing this at 4 am because I am bored and tired (with sleep deprivation). If you find an issue, leave a comment. I will fix it and reply to you.
