Senscape recommends The Cinema Rose

We are recommending Cinema Rose, previous problems have been addressed. These devs cared enough to immediately address issues.

The atmosphere, graphics, and voice over are wonderful! They are spot-on. Dilapidated when they should be, crystal clear when not. The voice acting is sublime!

The theater design (love the posters!) is a throwback to cinema days long gone but recreated in perfection here.

Game play is smooth and all mechanics worked well.

I am so impressed at how hard the devs worked to add content now addressing bugs etc. Well done!

There were a few jump-scares that did indeed make us jump, they were the same type of jump scares we see in all the games: A shadow here, a creepy looking thing there. We found the TV turning on and the clock chiming more unsettling than the character peeking at us from a doorway.

We did not care for basic WASD functions being unavailable. We want to shift run on occasion. We thought it seemed appropriate to crouch on occasion but that was unavailable.

We would have liked to quick click through the dialogue.

This was not a deal breaker, but quick readers do not need the text on the screen that long.

We wanted to see what would happen at the end and twice purposefully selected incorrect answers. By the third time we were tired of wading through the dialogue. We wandered away doing other things, coming back to the game just to click an answer and wait for more dialogue to click through. The 30 second reload time was the longest 30 seconds we have ever endured.

We knew the correct answers and after answering them assumed there would be a reload screen to quickly get to the alternate endings. No, the game ended and in order to see those endings you must start over.

We appreciate that this was a first project but feel that more thought should have gone into it from the players perspective.

Best guess on playtime, were it not for the mandatory wait time, this game could be played in ten minutes or less.

    This is a special day for me so I decided to play a game that is special for me.
    Oddly enough, in the beginning the narrator states "What we remember never truly dies."
    That is so true and the perfect sentiment for me today.

    I've played over a hundred games since I first played this and for me it remains the Best sci-fi game I have ever played.

    If only more devs paid attention to details. Fleshed out the story, presented an opening that makes it impossible to put down.

    The Game: Can you save the human race?

    What a great Point and Click game; it is fair to the player; you have all the information you need to solve the puzzles. No lunar logic was involved in the making of this game.

    The devs put so much thought into making this a game for players; you do not wander from one puzzle to the next solving puzzles that have no relevance to the game.

    The atmosphere is perfect; it is beautiful and haunting; the loneliness of space is palatable.

    The sounds are just amazing. Footprints sound like footprints; steps sound like someone walking at a real pace. Pneumatic door go “whoosh” perfectly in time with opening and closing.

    Why are you here? How did you get here? What do you do now? What are you?

    This is a story that unfolds as you play; peel it like an onion. Do it slowly and savor it.

    You always know your objective via the tab key. You are provided a snapshot and text description. You never have to stop and think “what was I supposed to do?”. On a large ship with different levels, the color snapshots prevented any wandering aimlessly lost.

    There are 100 manual save slots, you can enter long descriptive save names in it. That was a great feature! There is no auto-save.

    The inventory provides a good description of the item and suggests things the item might be used for.

    Play length without a walk-through was about 14 hours.

What an excellent game.
The atmosphere, the story, the music; it all blends together perfectly.
This really is a timeless classic.
The atmosphere quickly tells you there is more than meets the eye. Or is there?
You have to play it to see for yourself.

If you love a good story, particularly a ghost story, that has fair puzzles that relate to the game, this is for you.

I thought this game was f-bomb brilliant.

My play time was probably around 30 hours without using a walk through.

The folk lore and map here that show locations just makes it all even better.

Firewatch is a Walking Sim, this was played in free-range mode.

We loved everything about Firewatch, except that it ended.

This starts with a story about why someone might choose to be an isolated fire lookout. It slowly introduces a few mysteries for you to uncover; it is believable. It is a story of loss in some respects.

You will make many choices via the walkie-talkie to another lookout person you communicate with. Who do you trust?

The scenery is artistic and beautiful as you can see from the many screenshots.

The controls were a WASD dream. Everything worked smoothly with no crashes or bugs

If you love to look at and smell everything. I would guess at a casual pace was around nine hours of play time.

This game was an absolute delight.
I am "all about the story" in a game, and this one takes you to places that are so relevant.
Many times as I played I would just stop and think.
Kudos to the person who did the voiceover, it is fabulous.

What a little Point and Click gem.

The graphics are surreal and compliment this fascinating story perfectly.

Senscape has a Discord server where group plays are coordinated. This was played and everyone had a blast. This was one of the best group plays we have ever had because there are so many variables in the game.

"Every action has a reaction". There are so many ways you can go in this game. Click a picture here, and it changes the game. Click another item there and the same thing happens.
This game has so many multiple reactions based on what you selected.

Every person that played immediately started a new game to see the alternate endings.

ETA: This game was purchased elsewhere so it only shows .7 hours of recorded play.

Actual play time if you don't use a walk-through and poke around looking at everything is about nine hours.

Review based on only playing chapters one and two.
This afternon I thought I would play for an hour or so; four hours later here I sit, content.
It's visually a work of art.
The puzzles haven't been unbeatable (exception: I spent about an hour dinking around with the safe); I needed a kickstart and had to consult a walk-through to get going again.
So far, it is a delightful and interesting game.
