Point and Click and Adventure players rejoice!

  • Story, story, story!
  • Graphics
  • Atmosphere
  • Play Length
  • Controls
  • Unique new gadgets!
  • Multiple endings
  • Easter Eggs

If you are a fan of The Lost Crown you will recognize the ghost hunting gadgets. Those gadgets have been updated to 2020 technology and there are new ones as well; you have an iPad!

Note that you needn’t have played The Lost Crown, but there are old friends and Easter Eggs in Ghost Vigil for those that have.

This is a complex story about what used to be a children’s home. That in itself tells you it will be spooky. The atmosphere is perfect: the mansion has seen dark days and you will discover all that transpired there

You begin your expedition in the attic of an abandoned mansion. The game explodes, and you are no longer just in the attic but have access to a large mansion. What you see depends on the era.

    Puzzles:
Get your notepad out! Literally, “pencil and paper children!” as the Matron would say.

There are many puzzles to work through. You have what you need to solve them. Some puzzles are quite tricky so pay attention.

The sounds are perfect. Footprints sound like footprints; wind sounds like wind.

There is a manual save system in addition to an auto-save; there are nine save slots that can be overwritten.

The tablet provides you with a good description of the ghost hunting tools you will use.

You can replay some scenes in the game, you will want to because they were such fun.

Your inner child will have a great time at the interactive playground. Look around for something special there.

There are no jump scares by the way; this game is atmosphere and story

This game introduces new voices that are really enjoyable! Favorites were “The Matron” and “Jen”.

Estimated playtime for the game without a walk-through is 15-20 hours.

“You are the hero”.
Or not.
It all depends on the choices you make.

You receive an urgent dispatch for help lacking information about what you face; you are unable to properly prepare because of this lack of information so you are going in blind and must earn things as you progress.

This is about choice and you may or may not succeed in building your strength and weaponry up by the time you meet your strongest foes beyond the village of Pilgrim’s Progress.

The game mechanics and the world you enter are very clearly explained. Do take the time to read it all including the encyclopedia of monsters. Everything you need to know to play the game is explained.

My daughter and I played this together because you see no violence, blood or gore; combat is done by throwing the dice. That is acceptable to me as a parent.

There is an easy reload if you make a poor choice and end up, well, not alive as we did several times 😊. We do that on purpose to see the story arc.

This is another well written fantasy tale that will sweep you away to a land you could never imagine.

Thanks for another good read!

“You are a hunter of beasts and monsters”. So begins our next quest in the “Hunter’s Journals” series.

This time we are going to “Pale Harbour”. Pale Harbour has been overrun by sea monsters and you must save the townsfolk.

It is all about choice; you determine your own fate. My fate was to die pretty quickly because I launched right into expert mode 😉. It sounded easy enough. Right? Wrong. This is a maze through a cornfield, you need to be strategic and think about your options.

Luckily it was an easy reload and selection of a new story arc. I opted to die many times just to see how it would play out.

Like its predecessor “The Hunter's Journals - Pale Harbour” is another rich absorbing story. You have a new basket of skillsets and weapons at your disposal. You will see no violence, blood or gore; combat is done by throwing the dice.

This is a game you can take a break from and come back knowing where you are and what you need to do if you can’t play for a few days.

The game mechanics and the world you enter are very clearly explained. Do take the time to read it all including the encyclopedia of monsters. Everything you need to know to play the game is explained; thank you for that!

You have the usual set-up options. You can play in easy, intermediate, or hard mode. The game has an auto save feature or you can save manually. I like having both options available.

The game ran seamlessly, and I suffered no crashes, despite my alt+tabbing, checking Discord and Steam.
Thank you for yet another interesting read

How many villagers can you save? Can you save yourself? It is all about choice

The Hunter's Journals - Vile Philosophy is a rich complex story. The path you choose and ability to fend off the monsters determines your fate.

You see no violence, blood or gore; combat is done by throwing the dice.

You can die, but it is an easy reload and selection of a new path. I opted to die many times just to see how it would play out.

This is reminiscent of Brandon Sanderson novels and his world of things that can be brought to life; it requires a lot of skill to create a world such as they have done here.

Senscape recommends Eastshade.

Sometimes you need to take a break from all the horror and mayhem; Eastshade is our happy place. This is an adventure/exploration game we can go back to time and time again and be as busy or relaxed as you wish.

  • Beautiful graphics, breathtaking in fact
  • Characters, gentle caring
  • Story
  • Game length
  • No violence
  • No walk-through needed

We honestly found nothing lacking in Eastshade.

There are so few family friendly, non-violent games that can capture the attention of a 12 year old and their grandparents at the same time. This is one of those games.

You are a travelling painter in the vast beautiful world of Eastshade. You will meet many unique characters that need your help; you need their help too. You go on quests to accomplish this, and you paint pictures. You can be as busy or relaxed as you like.

You have a large inventory with many items you can buy and sell. The tab key is your best friend. This explains and contains everything.

You navigate via WASD or a controller.

Playtime to complete without a walk through is about 25 hours.

This has a "Serena" or "Marie's Room" feel.

+ Atmosphere
+ Story
+ Voice-over
+ Music
+ Free

This is a nice little freebie to be played in one sitting; there is no save feature; sit back and enjoy!

If you are familiar with Portland you will enjoy the authentic references!

An added bonus in this story is that Answer Knot hides 33 Easter eggs and references to other narrative games and game studios. They can be handwritten words, pictures, spoken words, pieces of stories, names, anything.

Finding all those is quite tricky so be prepared to look for a while!

Ir ran perfectly, no lag, tearing, WASD for navigation, usual controls.

Review based on playing the entire game

Gibbous is just kind of ... brilliant, and this review is coming from someone that is not a fan of cartoony games.

  • Beautiful graphics
  • Characters
  • Story
  • Tongue-in-cheekiness
  • Game length
  • Game consistency
  • No walk-through needed
  • Committed team that is keeping on top of any issues since the launch.

We are not huge fans of cartoony games but we've been following Gibbous - A Cthulhu Adventure and played it the day it was released.

We don’t always want to work out obscure puzzles every ten minutes; we don’t want to backtrack because we forgot to make note of something. We don’t always want to have 15 pages of notes or refer to screenshots. Sometimes we just want to play a game and not have to “work” hard at playing the game.

Gibbous provides that in a big way!
The references to classic games and developers is so funny we laughed out loud many times.

There are no "bang your head against the wall I'm so frustrated puzzles" because every piece of information you need to solve puzzles is provided in the game.

You can review where you are and what you need to do if you can’t play for a few days and forget what you goal is.

You can right click to speed read conversations, double click to walk a bit faster or double click the arrows to “teleport”. If you can’t find something and need a nudge you have the space-bar to help you out.

The game automatically saves, or you can save manually. We like having both options available.

A quick right click on the inventory gives a good description of the item, and what the item might be used for.

The game ran seamlessly, and we suffered no crashes, despite much alt+tabbing to Discord, other running programs.

We feel they designed the game with players needs in mind; this game is fair to the player.

Our play time was about 11-12 hours.

Great job Stuck in the Attic!

Don't be intimidated by "text based adventure".

This is not a static game; you will interact with the environment on-board the ship and the AI entities as you dive into this very intriguing and immersive story.

What do you trust?

What consequences will that choice bring about?

The good news is that the game offers you great replay value if you are not satisfied with your outcome.

You will think as the subject matters may surprise you.

We had no technical problems, it ran seamlessly.

The graphics are on par with EPIX standards and above par when compared to many others.

We really enjoyed this game and hope they will offer us more from the adventure genre.

Senscape recommends Epistory: Typing Chronicles

This review is based on completing the game.
We really enjoyed this game and highly recommend Epistory.

Few games still draw us in and make us want to do nothing more than play the game; this game did that for us.

This game is a pop-up origami book unfolding before your eyes.

  • Art, incredibly creative and beautiful
  • No game bugs :-)
  • Ran seamlessly
  • Music, atmosphere, and replay value.

The game really does adapt to your level and speed. Don't be worried if you are not the quickest or most accurate; the game will adapt to your speed.

Let the quest begin!

That a game of this quality is free is amazing.

It's a surreal kind of insane adventure at times, try it and see.

It is old school point and click with campy entertaining dialog that is smart and sarcastic. The game mechanics are 90's style.

The hand drawn graphics are crisp and eye catching, the game ran seamlessly with no problems.
