Genuinely one of the worst games I've ever played. Still going to play it, but I won't enjoy it >:(
For the last time, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ban soldiers.

This is genuinely one of the best games I own. It's rare to find something that's so well made, especially now, and it shows just how far the devs are willing to go to make this game great.

Everything from the art style, characters, cutscenes, minigames, gameplay, story, soundtrack, etc. is so well-planned and executed. And even if the cycle may get repetitive, all you have to do is take a break for a minute and it's immediately amazing again.

If you're ever looking for a new game to play, this is it.

DISCLAIMER: I don't have 865 hours because I don't like the game or anything. I've genuinely loved this game for years, but there are things that just make it not worth playing.

For one: The sheer size. 300 GB for this game that comes with just a few maps. DLC would up that number, and most of the DLC is also good (Personally don't like the DLCs after Abberation, though) but to play the game you need to uninstall *everything.*

Two: Optimization. I understand it's an old game, but even back then it was unoptimized as hell. It runs poorly on anything that's not a top-tier gaming rig, and even then it has its moments. There's really no reason to make the game need so much space AND not run well.

Three: Time investment. While true that it is meant to be one of the 'grind your way to the top,' vanilla ARK takes literal hours of babysitting something you knock out, only for the useless AI to have it killed by a wandering rex. And then there's eggs and alternative taming, but that's a whole other rabbit hole.

Four: Gameplay. The gameplay, despite the exuberant amount of time needed, is pretty good. Early game is hard, but usually in a fun way. The issue comes when normal single player PvE becomes redundant, and PvP servers are petty and oppressive.

Five: Survival. The food and water are immersive, though they can be slightly annoying. The problem comes from buffs and, more specifically, debuffs. The presence of leeches or bone breakage is great, but not when it changes the entire game from survival to respawn simulator.

Six: Story. The story of the game is strange, and there are levels to it. But I feel that it forces you into in much earlier than necessary, rather than letting you realize things aren't as they seem.

Conclusion: I can't explain how much I love this game, both to play and for the nostalgia along with it. That said, I wouldn't recommend new players getting it unless they know for a fact they enjoy the game, and are willing to spend 800+ hours getting nowhere.

Bought this game in a pack with BF1 and BFV. Have yet to try BFV but I am unimpressed with the game. So many game breaking glitches and visual bugs, cutscenes taking forever to load, and the combat system is underdeveloped. The friendly AIs shoot rubber bands instead of bullets, and the only way to take out enemies is doing it yourself; but those enemies all three shot you. I spent more time hiding than I did playing. I fell through the ground on more than one occasion. Sometimes, the guns just decide not to shoot, and other times they shoot twenty feet away from where you aim. I loved BF1, but this game isn't even worth looking at.

Early Access Review
There are some flaws, as well as kinks to work out, but it is a game that is still being developed. In fact, the team making Raft have done an amazing job both on the game, and regular updates and bug fixes. Raft Chapter 2 released relatively fast for such a large addition to the amazing story that takes place. In short, I would definitely recommend.

It's a fun game, and it's free. My only complaints are, it just juts you out into it, with no way to know what's what. There's no in-game guide, and no way to check anything. It does feel very realistic, but I feel as though it takes a bit too long for any activity. I know it's like this in the real world, but this is still a game, meant to be fun.

It's fun, and addicting. The game is weird, but nevertheless entertaining

It's not bad. Can get kinda boring after a while, but it's fine.
