Easily in the top 5 greatest games ever made. Everyone should play this, there is basically nothing negative I can say about the game and nothing positive I can say would do it justice.

I would give up my left nut just to be able to forget this game and replay it all over. It would be worth it. Now Sony, for the love of God (of War), please port Bloodborne to PC. I would sacrifice my right nut for that.

This game is weird.......in a good way.
It goes from serious and intense to whacky and hilarious at an almost jarring pace but somehow still works.
The main story is very intriguing and is alone good enough for a playthrough but the real gems are in the side content.
The absurd sub stories and excellent mini games can utterly consume your playtime.
The only problems I had with the game was the dated save mechanism, inventory and skill trees
However I can say with confidence that if you are looking for just a straight up fun time, you can't go wrong with Yakuza 0

This is my first deck builder type game and I chose this cause a YouTuber I follow recommended it after agonising over which to play.

At first I was a bit worried when I saw the visuals, it looked like a mobile game and I wondered if it would be any good but by the time I cleared my first run I was hooked. The high level of reactive strategizing with the variety of options in each faction deck makes it very mechanically immersive. As I unlocked more and more cards and cleared more runs, I found synergy between factions I couldn't have thought of just by looking at them.

The game is also quite steep in it's difficulty, I had a fairly easy time hitting Covenant rank 7 but after that was a real trek. My last rogue like was Hades, which is more combat reactive (something I am more used to) and the cerebral reactions in this game gave a very different but just as satisfactory challenge.

Being new to these type of games, I don't have much more to say but I can very safely recommend it.

Edit : Now having cleared Covenant rank 25, my recommendation for this game goes even higher, if you are looking for a rogue like or a deck builder, this is a must play.

Against all the boredom that life can conjure, all the half baked games the industry can produce, Id will send unto them... only the slayer.

So I went into this game having heard good things about it. It started off great, good setting, nice environment and meaty swings with the weapon but then I started noticing a lot of technical issues.

It took me a while to realise but I was not getting any tutorial pop ups when I pick something important up, for example, I got my parry tool early on but did not realise it was the tool cause the pop up that is supposed to explain it did not show up. After roaming around for while, I finally looked up how it works on youtube. The lack of tutorials stayed though out the playthrough.

Another issue is the enemy pop ins, why do enemies who I just went past 2 mins ago suddenly disappear and come back to whack me when I am 2 feet away ? It is not a draw distance issue, all other objects are there, the enemies just phase in.

Lastly, what really put me off, I got to the final boss, beat him on the second try but then the game bugs out and doesn't let me click on the prompt to take me to credits and NG+. Had to quit out, which put me back in the boss arena with a full health boss while I don't have any more items and am at half health. It is a good thing the enemies in this game are not too hard.

I understand it is a small dev team but I think the above issues should have been caught and fixed. Coming to mechanics, the game does have some neat stuff, the whole mechanic of having different class like loadouts which can be freely switched into are really nice and the weapons are good. I would say it would have been nice to have enough upgrade mats to level up and use more than 2 though.

The level design is good and is manageable once you get to know the layout of the maps though I have to say enemies in the game taper off the difficulty as you level up. The bosses are pretty good and the combat with them feels meaty and satisfying which is really the best part of the game. The DLC seems interesting but rogue like elements are not that appealing to me and this looked too grindy.

All in all, there is good stuff in the game and some nice unique ideas but they were held back by the technical and balancing issues in my playthrough. If someone has an unbearable itch for a souls like, give it a shot, else it can be skipped.

Hades is my first venture into the rogue like genre and I have to say I think I made the right choice by choosing this one. All the attention this game gained is more than deserving, it goes leaps and bounds beyond what I expected, it is difficult but accessible and for anyone interested in trying out the rogue genre, this should undoubtedly be the first recommendation.

The very first thing that caught my attention in the game were the characters, each and every one is likeable. The quirky dialogues and voice acting are on point and really gives a sense of connection as you progress through the story. Which is the first of many aspects that went beyond my expectation, it is very story and character rich.

Next would be the combat, despite having only 6 weapons in total, the mechanics of randomised boons and weapon skills makes it practically impossible to get a repeat of any run. This leads to the next aspect that went beyond my expectation, game play loop satisfaction, I never got bored, like ever. The combat itself was also very smooth and the variety of enemies in the room kept me constantly on my toes.

Lastly and this is what truly blew me away, the sheer amount of content, there is so much you can do even after you technically completed the game. From customising your hub, unlocking all weapon skills, getting all the boons, learning the history of all the characters and the side quests. The list goes on and on. None of it is grindy either, I find myself compelled to keep playing cause I want to do it. I want it all. The game soundtrack (which is amazing by the way) can also be obtained by just playing the game.

This is where SuperGiant has truly left almost every other developer in the dust, specifically big budget AAA studios. Everything about Hades feels like it was made with a passion, attention to detail and care that can only be achieved by people who had a lot of fun with it. Ideas that may seem silly were seamlessly added to almost become a focal point of the gameplay.

Hades is the first game that I felt was a truly personal offering from a developer and I really hope that they continue this good work and create more wonderful and fun games.

I started this game at night with all the lights off, after the first hour I nope'd out and then played the game to completion in the bright light of day. Resident Evil 2 Remake is another outstanding title in Capcom's resurgence in the past few years, the polish and detail and sheer fun they have brought with this title is hard to describe with mere words and must be experienced.

The first half of the game is where it truly shines I think, Raccoon city Police Department sends chills at every corner, big kudos to the sound and level design, I found myself jumping at every ambient noise and really goes above and beyond building tension.

The second part of the game after the police department is perhaps where I personally had some issues, the feeling of fear was now not from the monsters or atmosphere but more from the lack of resources and the need for so many items to complete puzzles, this kind of took away from the horror but added a lot to the survival aspect. It was still enjoyable though, with some very well done action sequences and story elements.

I would rate this as a 9/10 and would highly recommend this game to anyone who wants to try out the genre, even as a rookie horror player, I can confidently say this is one of, if not the best in the genre

I came into this game after a long hiatus from open world RPGs, the genre had lost it's charm to me after some of the last ones I played but this revitalised my interest in the category similar to how the Witcher 3 did.

First of, the game is visually fantastic and handles like a charm, I see they have ironed out all the issues that the PC port had at launch which makes it easy to recommend to others. The best part of the game are the story, characters and the sleek machine designs. It is a wonderful take on a post apocalyptic world, good enough to actually be a full novel series, plenty to work with. The machines and their designs makes it hard to step away from the fun of just hunting them and progress the story which is a great thing.

As with any open world there is a lot of busy work, collectables, side characters with their own quests and so on but they have kept the world alive with robots all over and apart from a few, lot of the side quests are quite interesting to the point that you want to get through all of them. Mechanics are simple with a progressive skill tree system and basic crafting, which has great appeal for the casual gamer who wants a chill gaming session. My only qualms with the game and this is really personal opinion, they could have added a more impactful player decision system and streamlined the types of weapons but it does not take anything away from the game, just some minor improvements.

All in all, it was a very enjoyable experience, it was never slow and the game is very well paced, would highly recommend and hope that the sequel is also just as good and makes its way to PC soon.

This game answered quite a few questions about video game sequels for me.
How to make a game that still captures the magic of the first and amplify that ten fold ?
How to greatly improve the player's quality of life in game ?
How to make an honest to goodness mind blowing sequel ?

Nioh 2 answers all these with top notch responses. This game has consumed my life, I came out of a 1000 hours in Nioh 1 and thought to myself I am going to probably get another 100 to 150 hours in Nioh 2 cause the initial reviews said the game is very similar to the first one.

I have no idea what these people played cause this is so much more different than the first one. Or rather it adds so much more. Team Ninja have utilised all their experience with their own games, mechanics from different franchises and mashed them together to make something incredibly unique. That sounds wrong I know but that is what they have done.

With the addition of new weapons, skills with yokai and even flashier over the top weapon skills and combos, Nioh 2 takes Nioh 1's already smooth combat and elevates it to a realm beyond badass.

I had mentioned even with Nioh 1 that people forget the story of the game and it is actually a thing happening at every stage, they had done a great job with it adding real life characters to a supernatural setting and getting it to work. They have continued that with Nioh 2, beautifully linking it with the first game and adding to the list of likeable characters in this game's universe.

Lastly a big shout out to the character, level and enemy designers. The character creation in this game is probably the best I have ever seen, incredible kudos for that. The levels, the way they have added verticality to a lot of the missions linking them through shortcuts is something so few other games have done so well. And then the enemy and boss designs, my biggest complaint with Nioh 1 was the repetitive cast of enemies and bosses in the game. This has been greatly alleviated in Nioh 2. It is filled with a diverse menagerie of enemies and bosses that keep things fresh all the way to the depths of the underworld with some fantastic boss music, visual design on top of being incredibly fun to fight.

All in all, this game is what I would describe as the perfect sequel from story to game mechanics like co op. Everything was carefully detailed and you can tell it was made with a lot of heart. I hope more people get into the franchise, this is what I said when I reviewed Nioh 1 but I somehow feel like it now has a bigger community, which brings me great joy. Thanks for reading this long review but this one is definitely worth it.
