There are a lot of colony/city builders out there. I have bought and played many. But this is a class above. Build your own town, no grid, build as you like. No enemies to destroy your work. Complex (enough) systems to create things that you need, or buy or sell to nearby towns.
And to sit and watch the detail of how the buildings are constructed, such a charming detail. It never gets old.
