Despite the new rehaul to the visuals from 2D to 3D, as well as a rouge-like structure of the DD formula, the game still retains most of the thematic weight of it's predecessor. DD2 does opt for more spectacular fights rather than gritty, cramped and chaotic encounters, which does still get your heat thumping as those damn spiders crit and stun you to death (you know which ones i'm talking about).

Unlike in the first game, losing a hero usually feels more frustrating instead of the frantic dread you'd experience in the first game, with deaths causing long reaching impacts whenever you'd lose vital characters.

But ultimately I'm very happy that the devs dared to experiment outside the boundaries of the first game as if you want more DD1 you can just download any of the amazing mods that have been made for it.

Having played the beta for well over 150 hours it's been awesome to see the game do well on steam and receive some rad DLC:s (exept Duelist).

This is some of the easiest modding to apply with a hearty community on top.

Chaotic experimentation, lovely physics and oh so much to explore. Many things in the game are so hidden that it might just be necessary to use a tutorial but even without that the game has an insane amount to do. Experiment and study the features of wands, spells, skills, potions and enemies that inhabit this dangerous world where your survival is decided on a whim.

Not enough? There are plenty of mods with which you can spruce up the list of spells, your outfit or even new bosses that you can (try to) slay.

It's a voice-chat with a game attached to it. Meaning, the quality of gameplay depends on who you're playing with.

Plenty fun with the right people, 8/10 would recommend.
