Game is both enthralling and frustrating. It's complex, which I love but also hate. Animals are beautiful and I would love looking at them, but there isn't any time for that in most game modes. And while we're talking about game modes, I love it that there are so many to choose from. Depending how motivated on getting into details I feel, I can choose between career mode (great way to learn the mechanics of the game), sandbox and franchise,
Building system is unnecessarily complicated, but luckily enough we have workshop with thousands of beautiful builds for those who aren't into building their zoo brick by brick. Building system is both blessing and curse of this game, depending how you as a gamer are. I started using prefab parts in game and workshop items and was able to create nice zoos. Now when I have 400+ hours in game, I finally feel confident enough to start building from the scratch. Building system could use some modernization though. It doesn't help that you can't seem to filter blueprints that you have unlocked and haven't unlocked yet, so it gets a bit difficult to even find anything. Youtube tutorials are a must for detailed building.

I bought this game years ago, and have been periodically playing it and then getting frustrated with it. Only recently I started to feel that I finally know enough to build my own zoos the way I want them. So if you don't like to have a long learning curve on a game, this might not be your game, but if you do and love micro managing, it's a match made in heaven! Also, it's beautiful to watch!

It's a fun and beautiful game. I wish there was easier ways to micromanage a group of vehicles than there is now, so it's a bit more grinding than I like, but other than that it's perfect for its genre.

Game is pretty, I give it that. But it doesn't offer any replay value. Also, who ever in game design team thought that making last task feel like trying to fit home key to key hole super well "hydrated" on Saturday evening when you're having a stroke and there's an earthquake should wear a donkey hat in the corner for the next regrouping activities day.

If you get it on sale, buy it. It is beautiful and I enjoyed the story mostly. It's just not my cup of tea, because I love to play my games hundreds of hours. Also, I'm too old for those Saturday night shenanigans. I get frustrated and when I do, I leave reviews like this.

Would I recommend this game to other players like me, grandma players? Yes, if you have offspring who are great at playing more violent games than you, you ol'simmer. I have been gaming since 1995, and the games I mostly play are simulations, but lately I have found games like this and subnautica. The thing is that I love survival aspect and roaming open world and collecting and crafting stuff but I absolutely suck at fighting or even shooting a darned deer. At the moment I'm stuck with ol'bear and need to wait for my son to come over and save me from it, but yeah, other than that this game is awesome!

Edit: Now that I have played 420 hours more, I have learned to survive with the wildlife too without help. I absolutely love and enjoy this game. It gives me a chance to experience my long time dream of a "long hike" which I can't physically do anymore. I used to be avid hiker when younger and before I broke my ankles really bad in an accident. World is beautiful, I swear I can feel the fire warming my face when it's lit, immersion is so deep. Thank you all wonderful YT channels that have taught me so much of this game that now I can survive on my own. :)

I just finished playing this and it took me six hours, because I wasn't in a hurry. It's a good game, but I probably won't be playing it again. After all, it's a story, and I have already "lived through it" once. I bought Firewatch when it was on sale for couple of euros, and I got great value for my money. I wouldn't recommend you buying it for full price though. It's really nice but also really short for twenty euros.

I liked this game, but because of updates which always cancel my current job, I have now been driving for nothing for 8 hours in real life. I took the longest jobs, and just before the job was done, game was updated and "to no cost to you, your job was cancelled". To no cost to me? Both were 200k jobs and I spent over 8 real life hours driving them. This is utter bs. If you need to cancel my work because updating is breaking something, then pay me for my partially completed job.
I'm done.

It kept me entertained for nearly 30 hours, but after that it's offering nothing new (I have no DLC). Buy if it's on sale.

I don't fit in target group of this game. I'm 48 years old grandma and I have mostly been playing The Sims since it first came out around 2000 and then Cities Skylines took my heart. I have always hated every kind of battles because a)I totally suck in them and b) they terrify me. But in this game, everything is in balance. Sure, there are some monsters too, but they aren't too bad (after my son first showed me how to defeat them, lol) and then there is this absolutely beautiful world to explore. I'm not in a rush to run through the story, but rather enjoy the athmosphere and gather some resources and then some more resources (which drives the mentioned son crazy).

I bought the game when it came out and it was running better on my PC than what people made it to run, but it was boring. Cities Skylines 1 was my favorite game ever, with all the mods possible. CS2 didn't give me options like CS1 to express my creativity in detailing my city and fixing traffic, which I love. Now, after huge update to game and with mods available I have found the joy of playing CS2. There is challenge again and detailing is so much more fun now. Yes, I recommend this game, but if you haven't been playing Cities Skylines style games before, you get the same joy if you play CS1 and there at the moment are more mods and assets to make your game what ever you want it to be. CS2 will be there too, but it's obviously taking time.

Updated 7/25 After a long hiatus I wanted to play again and got so frustrated with all the bugs that I just gave up. Don't buy this. Buy Cities Skylines 1.
