I have an hour of playtime in this game and it was all spent continuously restarting the game and getting stuck in an infinite load screen every single time without ever actually being able to get into a match.

This is perhaps the most beautiful and satisfying game I've ever played. Only part I don't like is when you get hopelessly lost looking for the next key or the door for the next key.

Fallen Aces is a melee-focused FPS with a limited move set, and it works well. You have two offensive attacks, punching and kicking, and you can charge the punch for a stronger attack with a longer recovery. This limited move set encourages you to scavenge weapons and use the environment rather than just relying on your innate combat abilities, making the combat feel much more dynamic. You also have two defensive moves, dodging and blocking. Blocking is most effective against unarmed enemies as it completely negates damage, blocking only seems to give you a bit of damage reduction against pipe-wielding enemies, and admittedly I haven't tried using my arms to block knives or bullets but my guess is it isn't going to be very effective against those. You also can parry unarmed enemies if you block the second their attack hits you, but it only stuns them for a moment so I'd say its better to just stun them with a kick or evade and counter-attack. When fighting a group of brown-sweater goons its pretty easy to steamroll.

This game also has stealth, and it's stealth. It's what you expect, stay in the dark, sneak up behind a guy, knock him out, rinse and repeat. It has the same problem a lot of games have, where the combat is just much more dynamic and challenging, so I usually end up getting caught on purpose so I can fight as many people as possible, which may not really be an issue depending on how you look at it. But the stealth does have some things going for it. First of all the player character has incredible cat-like agility, being able to jump and climb on pretty much everything makes it pretty fun to sneak around and create your own path. Secondly, quietly knocking out enemies makes it more likely for them to drop a working gun or some extra ammo, encouraging you to at least take some guys out sneakily to gather some good loot before you go loud.

Oh yeah, the guns. Logically they're pretty OP, but the game balances this by making them pretty rare and ammo scarce. Even if you get your hands on a gun, it might not even come with bullets. Though there are tons of certified spawns that are easy to get to once you find out where they are, but ammo is still limited enough that even if you grab every gun you probably still wont be able to gun down every goon. Your inventory also doesn't carry over between levels, so you'll have to find new weapons every time you get to the next one. I like this a lot, it encourages you to explore and get familiar with each level.

Back to that cat-like agility, my favorite thing in this game is simply running and jumping around. It's so fun and freeing to comb through every inch of a level, up high and down low. Almost every level can be beaten in a few minutes if you know what path to take. A lot of buildings usually have a couple entrances.

Glassjaw is my favorite character. Very cool. I hope him and Mike reconcile and get married.

Cultic is a perfectly crafted shooter. It's like Resident EVil 4 mixed with a John Woo movie. If you like shooters you NEED to play this.
