Clunky non intuitive buggy mess

Beautifully crafted experience of existential horror that will make you question what it even means to be alive. Story is beyond engaging involving themes I have not seen other games attempt before.

I initially barely recommended it. I think that as an experience it is pretty decent, environments+- are interesting, good threats and plenty of stuff to do. Also there mechanics (especially walking) are much more polished and refined. That being said that's about all I have to say in this game's favor. I guess it's worth the money, but it's nowhere near as good as the original Subnautica. The game is severely lacking in a lot of the qualities that made the first so special, mainly that mystery and isolated feeling. Margerette is a decent character and I think her inclusion in this game works, but Al-An just doesn't. First off he talks directly to you throughout the game and he is introduced pretty early. But my biggest complaint is how his inclusion was very sudden and random, he is the first precursor (I like that name better) that we actually encounter. Before that they had been shrouded in so much mystery. This super advanced alien race that had been wiped out before our arrival, and our first interaction with one is just so anticlimactic. He is way too human and generic, all his misunderstandings of Robin's behavior are very cliche.

All this alone would not be enough for me to leave a negative review. I think despite its flaws it is still a fun experience conceptually. Yes... Conceptually...

I'm talking about the bugs... There are so many bugs... I'm usually not one to complain much about bugs but whatever is going on here is game breaking. There's the little things like floating in air or clipping out of bounds. But I've had all the entities, rocks, trees, creatures, everything, just disappear for no reason. And my latest save got completely wiped. I was thrust back to the starting area at night in a snowstorm. Inventory empty, no beacons, no PDA logs, not even a hud. And I walked down that corridor by the thermal lilies and the line that plays there as a one-off thing played again so all the story was reset. I had poured 20+ hours into that save and I'm just so disappointed with this product. I badly want to like it, but the only reason I find myself playing it is because of its slightly more polished mechanics, and thankfully I haven't had the endgame story spoiled for me yet, and I would have finished the game by now but as of writing this I have lost 3 save files to bugs before I could get there.
