To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Hbox. His playstyle is extremely complex, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of his combos will go over a typical melee players. There’s also Hbox’s disgusting tournament wins, which is deftly woven into his reputation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Hours of optimizing puff, for instance up throw rest. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these complex combos, to realise that they’re not just the metagame- they say something deep about Melee.
