Early Access Review
(…) And so it came to pass that the bountiful flesh of the CANCER GOD was soaring through the far reaches of the Starless Void, and it was searching. (III) And its tender tumors did twitch in semi-orgasmic bliss, as they hearkened to the call of yet another celestial body, and it did respond to that call. (IV) The flesh of the celestial body groaned and pulsated, under the yoke it did so, and the CANCER GOD knew the body did yearn, and that this yearning was good. (V) Yet the flesh of that body was yet to be blessed by the loving caress of the Proliferating Ones, and so the CANCER GOD promised to deliver that salvation to the yearning body, for the CANCER GOD was good.

Murder your way through the wasteland, turn mutant corpses into fertilizer, and harvest semi-sentient plants, so that you can deliver them to the town where they'll be devoured by hungry sentient plant people. Rinse and repeat, all the way through the four seasons.

A brutal and hardcore arcade bullet hell farming experience. Very much not for the chill-seeking farmer -- definitely more in the vein of Nuclear Throne than Stardew Valley.

Well, Nuclear Throne it is not (and it is clearly very, very strongly inspired by Nuclear Throne), but I like the vision on display here, plus more Nuclear Throne is always a good thing.

Okay, enough about Nuclear Throne.

Some of the issues highlighted by the first reviewer in November 2021 have already been fixed: the obnoxious screen shake can now be toggled off, the character movement seems less floaty, there has been a soundtrack added, and so on.

There is still plenty to improve here. My suggestions would be to
+ focus a bit more on some organic storytelling, because currently all the context we've got is the store page blurb
+ add a bit of oomph to the sfx, as they are lacking
+ a quick restart option would be very appreciated, as going through the character selection screen every time you die is super tedious
+ not a fan of the crafting system, imo it slows down the runs severely
+ it is sometimes hard to distinguish between enemies and background, as the graphics tend to be a bit murky

Adding more features (weapons, characters) would be cool, too, but for the time being I feel it's best to focus more on the basics and the overall polish.

Anyway, KarmaCrown still has plenty enough charm (I'm especially a fan of the graphic design -- the chunky pixels and enemy designs are superb), is very affordable, plus the developer seems to listen to people's suggestions -- let's hope we see more updates in the future!

The game is good, but what is even better is the devs standing up for the victims of war and donating to the Ukrainian Red Cross, despite pro-Russian simps and bots crapping and farting in their pathetic frustration. LOL, get bent, losers.

You wade through toxic sludge, drink blood, and murder interdimensional cops — and we can all agree those are good things. Also, insanely addictive.

A deeply sensual experience. The graphics are minimal (well, non-existent, apart from the background art), but this does not stop the game from being very titillating indeed. Fleshcult owes it to some damn good writing, plus the amount and variety of transformations available stimulates the imagination. It's rather short, but has a decent amount of replayability. Well-worth getting, especially since it's hardly an expensive title.

It's got cowboys, guns, hatchets, shooting guns, throwing barrels, throwing guns, punching people, bigger guns, plus kicking people out of the map with your mighty boot. Great taunts and just dripping with zany wild west atmosphere: the sight of a crazed Mexican rushing you with a hatchet and yelling "ANDALE" in a slightly offensive voice is something to remember. Combine that with graphics that are rather simple but servicable, sometimes wonky Source physics, and a steep learning curve (the guns are varied and handle semi-realistically) — and you get a game that is just oozing charm and awesomeness. It's a free mod, for chrissakes, and you don't even need the base game to play it, so just go and do so.
