This game isn't too bad with the amount of content available, and for being a game that is over five years old, it's still going strong with updates adding content and patching bugs often enough to keep the game playable. It's come a long ways from the beginning, and while there is no actual story, the progressive system in this game keeps you going from boss to boss, equipment to equipment. There's quite a bit of equipment too, with a variety of weapons to keep playstyle interesting. From summoning, ranged, melee, magic, and even yo-yos, there's something to keep you entertained.
With the exploring aspect, it may be a little difficult to begin with, but as you gain more accessories, exploration gets easier. From caves to difficult to navigate terrain, namely the jungle, there's a lot to see. There's also three different map sizes to pick from, so if you want a smaller map, you can.
As for all the blocks, equipment, furniture, npcs, wiring, ores, and liquids, there's a variety of things that you can build. The world is completely changeable, some blocks requiring good tools to remove the blocks, the variety of buildings, structures, and whatever you want is available after some clicks... and however long it takes to build. But that doesn't mean you have to build alone.
The multiplayer feature in Terraria is simplistic. You can connect with your Steam friends playing just by going through Steam itself. If you wanted, you can also connect via IP address, which is easier than it sounds. You can just keep your game running to allow people to join you through IP, or the game now comes with a simple server file to keep your world up for your friends if they want to keep playing while you're done. The only downside to that is that you have to open a port in your firewall. Even if you don't want to mess with server running yourself, there's plenty of servers out there to mess around on. Just make sure you have a good internet connection.
Overall, it's not a bad game. It has replayability, items fit to just about any play style, pretty good multiplayer features, and an adequate building system and enough wiring to satisfy just about anyone more interested in technical aspects of games. If the kind of games you enjoy are more sandbox, equipment gathering, kill everything to progress, and/or building pixel homes and structures, you might enjoy this game. Those that enjoy playing Starbound, Don't Starve, or Edge of Space might enjoy this game if you don't mind a pixel style 2D game.
Pros-
+ Can fit just about any play style with the variety of equipment, accessories, and mounts
+ Building is fun with the amount of blocks and biomes
+ Bunch of bosses and events to beat and gain loot
+ If normal mode is too easy, there's an expert mode with increased difficulty
+ Pretty good soundtrack
+ When you get bored, you can mod the game to cater to your experience

Cons-
- Can be grindy at times
- Multiplayer requires a good internet connection to not be a bad experience
- If you're not a fan of 2D pixel sidescrollers, then you won't like this

Overall, I'll say that this game is a 9/10. For the $10 price, just pick this game up if you're interested.
