The visual is stunning and the soundtrack is good. The gameplay is novel but it became humdrum real quick. What I hate the most is the story. First, it is badly told. It really just is a bunch of powerpoint slides. I don't understand why PC Authority said it was "a masterpiece of environmental storytelling". Come on, what does the environment tell you about this old man's story? You cannot interact with the environment to change or unfold the story. How disappointed I was when I found out interacting with the houses and characters did not give me any new information. Second, the story is very male-centric. What? You regret abandoning your wife and daughter? Oh boo hoo you should have thought better! As a person whose dad is a complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up, I refuse to be fed with a narrative in which an irresponsible father could just walk away and then come back to a happy ending.

Why do I have to watch the exploration scene with repetitive content every f---ing time!

It is quite disappointing to see this game use the Chinese Taipei olympic flag instead of the national flag of Taiwan to stand for traditional Chinese. What is even worse, they used the national flag in their demo but later changed it to the current one. They could have just abandoned the flags element in the language setting. Yet they chose the worst way to handle this matter. Although I enjoy this game so far, I cannot endorse such kowtow to China.

I wish I could give a positive review on this game, knowing how dedicated the developers have been to update and fix this game. But no, these bug fix and content updates do not save this game. Because the backbone of this game is flawed. As someone who likes Always Sometimes Monsters a lot, the story of this sequel is quite disappointing. First, the ending makes little sense. Sam obviously hates you as ♥♥♥♥, but they can be gone simply because you write "Sam leaves" in the final duel . Second, the choices you make in this game do not compare to the ones in ASM. In ASM, you often make choices that have big consequences, and your interests often conflict with others. However, in SAM, you mostly make trivial choices, such as what meals you need to make and whether to go to the gym. These two flaws make this game a real disappointment as an ASM's sequel.

Perhaps, as a stand alone game, SAM will be a fun game. I can see its potential. But it also has some minor but annoying mechanics. For example, not having a stamina bar like the one in ASM to show how hungry your character is. And if the four authors you choose all have their events in the latter half of the cities, you will end up being rather bored in the former half of the cities, but rather busy in the remaining cities.

Overall, I agree with another review which states the devs should abandon this sinking ship and invest their talent and hard work on a new game.

A very fun game. The puzzles are well-designed. And I love those small pixel animations such as the villain flipping his hair.

I have not played King's Bounty, so I don't know how closely this game resembles to King's Bounty. But I know it is quite similar to Heroes of Might and Magic 3. This was also the reason I bought this game. To be honest, this game cannot compare to HOMM3 in terms of graphic or music or game play. A major problem of its game play is the unbalance difficulty. In the earlier phase of the game, it seemed a bit difficult. But after you recruited the ghost in your army and started to convert dead enemies into ghosts, you could beat the game with ease. But it does have one thing I like over HOMM3, which is its various quests. You can complete some side quests during campaigns, and the campaigns are also not just about capturing all towns and destroying all opponents.

Despite its simple pixel graphic, this game is good at creating a horror atmosphere through music and story development.

The design of the puzzles are not good and the characters are not likable. Because of that, after one or two hours of playing you will not give a damn about how the story will unfold.

My wish to visit NYC became stronger after playing this game.

Highly repeated gameplay. A highway to boredom
