Early Access Review
After testing 29+ Alpha builds, I can safely say Manor Lords is a phenomenal game, with the passion of the developer displayed throughout the entire game. The attention to detail is unmatched

As an Alpha Tester on Manor Lords for a full year prior to release, being able to work with SlavicMagic was an amazing experience.

I've never encountered a developer so receptive to community input before. The game boasts not only some of the most visually pleasing and satisfying gameplay, but a dynamic soundtrack that plays based on the game's mood. Is winter coming? There's a soundtrack for it, is a battle about to begin? There's a soundtrack to it. All of this, from soundtrack, to sound design, to gameplay, they all come together to create a truly amazing experience. I do not believe one could do well without the other. SlavicMagic has so many incredible idea's planned for Manor Lords, and what is playable now, nothing can match it.

The small details make it

It’s the trees turning orange and yellow as the subtle music is faded into the scene with the sun rays going throughout the trees, it’s the unique level of customisation when it comes to house placement, markets and region optimisation. The battles mean more in manor lords, since these are your actual people. All of this in unison together is what makes this game phenomenal to me.

The Game is still not complete

There is incomplete content, that is very much clear, but I do not think that it meaningfully takes away from the game Manor Lords is trying to be. I personally was most excited for Retinue Progression, each Retinue is a person, they have their own kills logged, and there is meant to be progression to make them better, but it didn't make it in time for a EA release, and that's fine to me. The developer focused on the main and most important aspect of the game, the city building and town management.

Manor Lords is truly a once in a generation game, the dedication of the developer is beyond impressive and it was a humbling experience to work with such a talented developer. Not to mention, there is so much that can be built upon, and after EA, It only gets better from here.

Music: 10/10
Graphics: 10/10
Replayability: 9/10
Gameplay: 9/10
Enjoyment: 10/10
Overall: 9.5/10

After clocking in over 100 hours into the game having multiple campaigns and cities, it's incredibly enjoyable.

Your insights on Manor Lords are fantastic! It's great to hear how the developer's passion shines through. The attention to detail really makes a difference!

I don't need to brag about "skills" on Manor Lords.

What skills do I have that you don't?

You say the game is broken, what is broken? Formulate it with actual mechanics and not just a generalisation with no substance. I played the pre-launch build, what is wrong with it?
Mr. Foreskin 29 Apr, 2024 @ 6:01pm
@Michael Cimino Okay you are extremely parasocial.

What you said is 100% subjective, and you've failed to prove otherwise. Your yearning to win "a debate" shows how defeated you are. You provided subjective examples that no one else agrees with, and refuse to learn new game mechanics. That is not the fault of the game, but of you.

Seriously, go socialize with some people before yapping about "winning" an internet debate.

"Literally no one" but you are projecting passive aggressive. What I am doing is debating you and winning. Funny how you used the same lines to describe other people too. Do you think I am impressed by your ability to copy/paste?

So you played "Baby's first city builder" and think you're an expert in the genre now. Never played Banished or Factorio. You only know CSGO. Pathetic.

I gave you plenty of examples and you don't have a response other than "I don't see what's wrong with it" and "everything is subjective". Grow up kid. Life isn't subjective and neither are arguments in a debate. You have no experience in the genre which is why you don't have any counter arguments to mine. You lose the debate. Admit defeat and walk away.

My explanation is irrelevant for what?

What did I mention that was only in the early build that you now CANNOT experience what I did?

My 130+ hours is not a lie, I played multiple villages/towns with multi-regions, I reported bugs and provided gameplay feedback the entire time, and recorded many of my villages. This is just some weird cope because you have some sort of skill issue with Manor Lords.

Point out the issues you have, instead of rambling about total nonsense.

@MichaelCimino

Literally no one is projecting, it seems me calling you passive aggressive (which you have been) really hurt you. And saying Im projecting is another attempt of you trying psychoanalyze me over the internet which is strange parasocial behaviour.

I am a sole city builder player, that's correct. I've played many types of games and I don't see how not being able to change the price is so detrimental to you. Not every City Builder should be the same, I don't know why you'd want it to be. It's really just preference and you refused to even take my example of why I like fixed prices. What's yours? Because you are a City Builder only player that wants it to copy the systems you already know? Seems lame.

The game is already beyond decent, so he's already accomplished what you said he hasn't. And again, you are not providing anything of substance except subjective opinions on systems and wanting them to be like other games. I disagree with that.

@Tazz playing for a year, yes there was 130 hours worth of gameplay. Mostly because of testing, and my enjoyment of the city building.

Ok when I saw you gave a 5/10 for the music I just knew your review is entirely ridiculous.

If you notice, you are complaining about losing to the AI. I lost to the AI many times but I would start another campaign and play again to beat him. That right there is replayability at least for me.

Disappearing items? You mean the bandits that steal your items? Ok then you just said they aren't disappearing, the blacksmith eat to produce items, don't put the blacksmith on it then?

You need to have workers in the storage houses to move the items from being stuck.

Yea a 4/10 is just subjective because you lost to the AI. Try the other mode that's slower.

Also for the song, it's not the same song because the song changes for each season.

132 hours on what? "After testing 29+ Alpha builds..." oh yeah. No way is there 100+ hours in this game.
