RIP Helldiver 2 2023-2023

When I first heard of this game I didn't not expect much from you guys. Seeing the diversion from your signatory top down view shooter to a generic FPS game was not an impressive to me, but Arrowhead blew all my expectation with both your video game and your honest conduct.

We all know this isn't the kind of review bombing any video game can recover from, but the developers still earn the respect regardless. I will still be coming back to play this game from time to time.

Historically speaking, if you defeat an army 4-5 times your size, you would usually win the war, or at the very least stop the enemies from attacking you for a long time. You will also have your name engraved into history, with bards singing you praises and armchair military fans talking about how cool you are.

In Bannerlord, it's Tuesday.

I am gotta be honest, there is no possibility I could fully convey how good this game is.

The game will gives you the strength of god, letting you flatten everything around. But it can also effortlessly humbled you within seconds, throwing soul crushing amount of foes at you. And it does so on regular basis, constantly reminding you that you are but a mortal human against literal forces of nature.

The enemies are no joking matter. They do not just come in ridiculous quantity and turn the game into a repetitive grind fest like other game does, they are also effectively smart. Range mobs actively staying out of your line of sight and striking you from your blind spot. Melee mobs do not instantly attack you as soon as you are in their grabbing range, they would first over cut your moving directing and surround you, and then proceed to attack from all side. Even the most skilled and agile players will get overwhelmed eventually if they charging into a mission without a plan. It's not an overstatement to say this game might be harder than even the hardest Dark Soul game.

The dialogues are cheesy, comedic, over the top, and outright ridiculous most of the time, aka b-tier movies materials, yet the story is somehow so grimdark and serious you might mistook them for a Warhammer lore by mistake (even vice versa after playing this game). One second your allied NPCs were merrily chatting on the comm, the next you hear nothing as all the blue dots on the screen disappear under the ravenous hordes of the red markers on your minimap. The game make sure you understood the implication of the lost of your allies, as they are often to be crucial in beating many of the game's hardest missions. Thus your screen may shakes from all the noises of your explosive weapons, but when your song met with no replies, the chilling silent is all you will hear. You are all alone... helpless... vulnerable... death.

Arguably the best TW games ever released. Don't listen to the hater who just picked up TW series since warhammer I, FotS have always been an independent game, you never have to own shogun 2 to play it and it's being a shogun 2 dlc was only a matter of branding. FotS have equal amounts of gameplay comparable to known top tier TW games such as napoleon TW, as well having the most mechanically revolutionizing gameplay of the entire TW franchise. Haters literally hating on this game just literally because CA rebranded a $60 game that was previously mistaken for a dlc, you are still buying this game at the DLC price TW fans from 14 years ago have paid for. You are missing out on a huge chunk of TW experience if you pass up on this deal.

Everything about this game is great, except Karlach's dialogue. Until Karlach receives the well-written story she deserve like every other recruitable npc, instead of the awkward influencer crap they gave her, this review will remain a downvote.

You can be a rice peddler in this game. Highly recommend.

Devs made some good change lately, only for fun police to revert all the fun just to please 0.037% of the entire playerbase.

Pro:
- Great gameplay and works consistently. Great enough to warrant a recommendation. I have had no problem moving units around and issue them combat orders. The bugs reported by other reviewers seem to have been largely fixed.
Cons:
- Very bad story writing. The game doesn't give you necessary exposition to tell you what's going on, and as you progress, you are only receiving random snipets of information that doesn't really make sense, or provide to you far too late that it ruin the certain emotional scenes. I have seen hentai games with better story.
-Devs apparently have been going radio silent for quite a while.
Edit: Devs just released update on the game development. It's fair to say the game is not abandoned.
