This is a game that is way to good to be free, at least when it picks up the pace although it has a great narative from start. I would propose you play this game blind and after playing through it watch a playthrough of it on youtube (other sites are available) to see the subtle stuff and see oter people's reactions, it is way worth it to know what will happen and then be mad when they don't see it.
