Turtles have 13 scutes on their shells, but if you're an idiot then you would write the word "scute" as "scoot". Scute means bony plate or spike, these are found on such animals as; the Stegosaurus, it has scutes on it's back! and they look like big plates too! Another animal with scutes is the Crocodile (and the Alligator, I think...), it's scutes are the small spikes along it's spine!
