The game is hard to describe in a simple pros/cons fashion. Almost anything truly important in the pro/con section is debatable. But I will list the most important aspects of the game.

Outward is a grueling experience where you are no one special, just another person who has been dealt a bad hand in life. The first thing you hear is that your ancestors screwed up and now you must pay a fee to the town, so you go to the wilderness to get money. You combat bandits and a somewhat diverse group of enemies, loot them, craft food, weapons...
The game is all about survival against tough enemies, the elements, basically everything tries to kill you.

THE COMBAT
-Challenging, no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, great hitboxes, good variety of enemies. Keep your stamina in check!
-If you underestimate any enemy prepare for the worst
-Good enemy AI, you will get pommeled by everything at the start but then you learn how to bait, kite, sidestep...
-Armor makes a difference, if you fight a sorcerer with 0 magic resistance, prepare to die.
-A lot of build diversity, very different playstyles depending on class.
-Many skills that synergize well with eachother.

World
-The world is full of optional areas that are diverse and dangerous. Also a lot of optional stuff are really game changing.

Crafting and Inventory
-Tons and tons of recipes that are actually very useful and you will use them because otherwise you die.
-Crafting is innovative and logical (mostly).
-Inventory space is limited at every point in the game, hoarding is punished.
-You will not lose your items if you die.
-almost any loot is great, since there are so many recipes (I don't even use traps or any gadgets and still use everything I pick up)

Misc
-The story is straightforward and easy to latch on, but the world is diverse with factions with different interests and political views.
-It's impossible to estimate how strong you should be for any main quest, but weakness can be overcome with paying attention to details and preparing beforehand. Some main quests have many different ways to complete them.
-Keep in mind, fleeing is alright if you're in over your head!
-Being a mage requires a lot of trial and error, but that's the beauty of it.

I personally love the game, but there are objective downsides:
-Lackluster character customization with only a handful hairstyles, races, and faces.

Final words:
You will die, you will feel elation if everything works, no one's there to hold your hand.
You might use cheese, but enemies might also cheese you. Also watch for the black chicken, it hurts!
