Thought this game was silly to begin with, just a kinda goofy open world game, but the more I played I developed a few gripes.
- Though it's not clear where this game is set, the cast is a weird melting pot of accents and dialects that kinda clash against each other. The mushrooms and the voice in your head sound like Americans / Brits. The cat, which is really jarring, sounds like a stereotypical Russian / deep Japanese accent, and for some reason seems to have worse mic quality than everyone else? Pair that with some of the characters struggling with pronunciation which is just odd in any setting, and the voice acting alone took me out of the story.

- There is a morality system inbuilt in the game, which are USUALLY bad in most games I've seen. Basic stuff like "Help X instead of Y" or "Kill the bird in the vines, or spare it" are what you can expect for most of your choices. But then there are some instances where I questioned which answer to a prompt would side with my alignment. There's a quest in the game where you are given the option to handle a monster that is lying to others for power and influence. (Should preface this by saying; this character, and his followers, are enemies) You can either; Snitch on him to his followers, leading to them LITERALLY TEARING HIM APART, or, you can further his charade of lying to ACTUAL monsters, which will stop them from attacking you ever again. Which option do you suppose the "good" choice would be? The "good" answer is to let his followers ACTUALLY MURDER HIM while you listen. The takeaway is that lying justifies murder :D. Also the morality system is VERY fragile. You of course have tiers to your evil degeneracy or your pious goodness, the maximum of either require tasks to be completed upon having enough "good or bad juice" in your system. Now, you'd assume that after you've dedicated yourself to one side of the coin, and doing the prerequisites for reaching the highest tier, you'd be locked into that angle, right? Nah. Your max tier morality can be broken and sent back a tier by making the wrong choice in dialogue...

- The combat is marketed as a "one-of-a-kind blend of intense archery combat", the store page says so in the second sentence of the description. While yes, the combat is "one-of-a-kind" (to my knowledge :p) with it's blend of bow stuff and quick magic moves, it is FAR from intense. Every enemy encounter just involves you kiting enemies around while you pepper them with low to medium damage toothpicks at an arms length, or doing measly tick damage with one of your spells. Bosses are pretty much immobile, except for the copy paste mushroom fights. When I fought the boss mentioned in the last point (the fella who got ripped apart), I genuinely stood still and just volleyed arrows at him until he stopped moving, which I might add, took a few minutes.

Realistically, you'll want to go into BLACKTAIL expecting a goofy game, cause it is! Mashing m1 with no arrows left so you pluck at your bowstring like a guitar is silly. Holding down your spell button and whipping your hand around a flock of birds and watching them just plop out of the sky is funny for a while too. But as you progress, the game starts to take itself too seriously.
And that's where I began to lose interest.
Got it in a humblebundle so hey thats neat!

Sorta jumped into this, thinking it'd be a successor to Bloodborne. And it sorta is, and isnt. Once I got past the idea that this would be on par with a souls game, I started to enjoy it more. My issues are in the music and combat; the music sounds like it was made in bandcamp - it is super generic and relly dosent fit the aesthetic of the game. On to the combat; it's kinda cool for a bit, but then it just boils down to "parry or hit the enemy, then hit them with your claws, THEN you can kill them". Got a little stale after the first 2 areas. Also, all of the bosses suck, except for the first one. The first boss took me quite afew tries and he felt really satisfying to beat. Sadly, I second-tried the rest of the bosses. Would be a banger of a game with a DLC but I dont see that happening. Either case: If you're like me, you want more of Bloodborne, but we know SONY won't make a sequel, so this is a pretty good substitute. 6/10

Very fun platformer. A bit too short, but it was quite nice while it lasted.

I was introduced to this game years ago. I was still a kid - about 9. Though I don't play it anymore I feel an immense connection to the game. Thank you for the good memories.

The game is genuinely cool. Decent gameplay. The story is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nonsensical - it makes zero sense to me and ♥♥♥♥ just HAPPENS. If you've seen the ending of the game, I'm sure you know what I mean. After finishing my first run I don't feel any need to replay the game at all - don't wanna explore the tiny maps that I've already fully gone through to find a new archetype that I'll need to grind for, that just won't matter in the grand scheme of things. Sure. I COULD re roll the campaign on a higher difficulty, but why would I bother? I was a huge fan of Remnant 1, and I was excited to play the sequel. The game runs pretty well for me, and feels polished but it lacks the soul that the first game had.
The game kept my interest til the end, but it feels like it fell short in the end.

If you can look past the handful of glitches and the... well... less than stellar launch of the game, then you'll find a pretty fun RPG with a decent story to boot!
